BMX Simulator-

DrivingCodemastersCPC1987

A complex, single-screen BMX stunt track is shown from overhead. You, and either a computer player or one of those real-life people, race against each other and the clock to complete three laps. With the course consisting of the ramps, slopes, and banked curves that you might expect on a BMX circuit, this is quite a challenge. The computer opponent is also rather competent, and will require effort to get to see all seven of the tracks.

Little has changed since the original BMX Simulator, as this is still an overhead screen full of sloped surfaces. But, there are now four bikers at a time, two of which can be player-controlled. The bikes are much harder to control in this sequel, and as such the computer is much more difficult to beat.

A mixed bag of five subgames, presented in a big, bold, and beautiful style that the French were known for. Bobo is in prison, but doesn't really want to be. In order to escape, he must perform five tasks: Peeling potatoes, feeding soup to the other prisoners, keeping the guards asleep, juggling prisoners on a trampoline, and racing across electrical cabling. Each of these subgames are rather difficult to beat, and are sometimes marred by an unresponsive control system.

Bomberman (DS)-

Action puzzleHudson SoftDS2005

The classic Bomberman formula updated a little to take advantage of the DS's capabilities. The core game remains the same: Plant timed bombs which explode with a cross-shaped flame in order to tunnel through an arena and eliminate the enemy. A large single-player story features bosses and special touchscreen-activated abilities, but the real game lies in multiplayer. Up to eight players (human or CPU) battle across a dual-screen arena, trying to avoid the chain reactions as bombs trigger each other.

A series of single-screen levels that, oddly, wrap around from bottom to top, require completion. Each is full of platforms, jump pads, and bombs, as well as a cup and a box. Balls spew forth from the cup, and must be taken to the box by your character. Also on the level is a large radioactive ball, which will roll around, dragging the balls with it and stealing your own. It will also irradiate you if you touch it. The bombs around the screen will spontaneously ignite, and unless they are defused by touching them, explode and irradiate you further.

A classic. You control miner Rockford, and are shown side-on in a cavern. This cavern contains diamonds, which Rockford likes. It also contains boulders and enemies, which Rockford doesn't. The rest of the cave is filled with soft rock, which Rockford can dig his way through. This is wherein lies the puzzle. Enemies can freely navigate through the open space, and boulders and diamonds will fall if you dig underneath them. It is very easy to come a cropper under an avalanche, or to inadvertently block your path with boulders. Each of the 50+ levels provide more than enough challenge.

Bridge-It-

Reaction describes this game pretty well. Two blocky houses are linked via a blocky walkway over an expanse of water. This walkway has four drawbridges along its length. An endless stream of people want to get from the one house to the other, and walk Lemmings-like along the path. The catch is, only one bridge can be down at a time. You control the bridges, and simply have to press the right key to close the right bridge at the right time. Play continues until a certain number of people have drowned.

Bubble Bobble-

PlatformFirebird/TaitoCPC1987

A gaming classic. A side-on view of a simplistic, single-screen level sees the dragon Bub, and if two people are playing, Bob, facing a collection of enemies. The dragons need to clear the screen of enemies in order to reach the next one of the 100 available. To accomplish this, they can blow bubbles which encase the enemies, and then pop them to destroy them. Bonus bubbles can also be collected to keep things interesting. Bubble Bobble is also famous for encouraging friendship: You don't get the real ending unless you have been playing two-player.

PlatformCodemastersCPC1991

One of Dizzy's arcade adventures, Bubble Dizzy sees him trying to get back to dry land from the bottom of the ocean. Trying to stop him are fishy enemies who sap his oxygen, and the force of gravity. To help him overcome one of these, bubbles of various sizes rise from the sea bed at varying speeds. Dizzy can ride atop these bubbles until they burst. He must also collect eight pearls on his way to the surface, and has to do it all over again on eight different stages.

A side-on view of a colourful world shows Melba, our hero, walking blindly across a level. The levels are full of cliffs, blocks, fire, and generally all sorts of things to get in Melba's way. The player controls a cursor which can be used to move some of the blocks around, in the hope of creating a path and steering Melba clear of the traps. This is a lot trickier than it may sound, because Melba can walk quite quickly, and cannot be stopped.
