Daggers
Daggers are a vital tool for any thief, because you don't want to be lugging around a broadsword when you're trying to redistribute the wealth. Daggers are reasonably potent small arms and provide essential thiefly abilities such as Detect and Flee, but generally lack the power of the larger Thief Swords.
| Name | Status |
|---|---|
Dagger | Weapon used by thieves. |
| Attack: 12 | |
| No special status | |
Flee: 40 | |
![]()
| |
Zidane's initial equipment, and weak enough to deserve the position. The more powerful Mage Masher is available very early on - in the first battle - and should replace this as soon as possible. Its only notable aspects are that it is the inspiration for Princess Garnet's new name, and that it can be used for synthesis. | |
Mage Masher | Weapon originally used for combating mages. |
| Attack: 14 | |
| Add ST: Silence | |
Detect: 40
Flee: 40 | |
![]()
| |
A much more useful replacement for the Dagger, providing as it does the Detect skill. One of these may be stolen from the Masked Man in the introductory battle, making it all the more indispensable. More should be purchased from town shops in order to synthesise later on. | |
Mythril Dagger | Thief's dagger made of mythril. |
| Attack: 18 | |
| No special status | |
Bandit: 40 | |
![]()
| |
A blade made of ever-popular mythril with a pleasantly minty taste. Bandit is a skill essential to any self-respecting thief, so stealing this from Sealion is a must. Replacements are available from Lindblum onwards. | |
| Gladius | Light dagger that is easy to handle. |
| Attack: 30 | |
| Add ST: Slow | |
Annoy: 50
Lucky Seven: 85 | |
![]()
| |
The stronger Gladius is beyond the reach of novice thieves, providing superior attack power as the adventure moves out of the home continent. Its mid-range abilities aside, the ability to slow enemies (with Add Status) can prove incredibly useful. | |
| Zorlin Shape | Popular weapon among thieves. |
| Attack: 42 | |
| No special status | |
Flee: 40 | |
![]()
| |
The oddly-named Zorlin Shape has no outstanding properties, but is a solid enough dagger for thieves who forgot to learn Flee during basic training. Be warned, however, that supplies are low and stock is only available on disc 3. | |
| Orichalcon | The most powerful thief's dagger. |
| Attack: 71 Speed: +1 |
|
| No special status | |
Detect: 40 | |
![]()
| |
A beautiful blade with enough vim and vigour to survive intense battles. Though not Zidane's most powerful piece, it is a massive improvement on other daggers and is worthy of a place in anyone's endgame inventory. | |
