Rackets

White mages aren't known for their killing skillz, but they can pack quite a punch with these somewhat rare weapons. Carrying full attack power even from the back row, and adding Wind element to boot, rackets are very useful once Eiko and Dagger have learned their other weapon-based abilities.

NameStatus
Air RacketLong-range combat racket.
  Attack: 13
Elem-Atk: Wind
[A] Scan: 25 (Garnet)
[A] Panacea: 15 (Garnet, Eiko)
[Restricted]
  • Purchase in Summit Station.
  • Find in Ipsen's Castle.

Rejoice, for this innocent-looking piece of equipment changes battle forever. Dagger (and later, Eiko) no longer need to defend all the time and can fling Wind-based projectiles at the enemy from the back row. In addition, Scan means you can keep track of enemies' HP which is vital for teaching Quina new abilities.

Multina RacketLong-range weapon that holds mysterious powers.
  Attack: 17
Elem-Atk: Wind
[A] Blind: 40 (Garnet)
[A] Stona: 25 (Garnet, Eiko)
[A] Shell: 35 (Garnet), 20 (Eiko)
[Uncommon]
  • Purchase from many shops.
  • Find in South Gate.

Once the Air Racket's abilities are memorised, this makes an essential part of Dagger's disc 2 equipment and ensures she can provide offensive support in battle.

Magic RacketLong-range weapon that holds magic powers.
  Attack: 23
Magic: +2
Elem-Atk: Wind
Raises Holy Elem-Atk
[A] Berserk: 30 (Garnet)
[A] Mini: 40 (Garnet), 35 (Eiko)
[A] Cure: 30 (Garnet), 20 (Eiko)
[Restricted]
  • Purchase in Lindblum, Oeilvert, Desert Palace.

In addition to the usual useful properties of carrying rackets as opposed to anything else, the Magic Racket raises spell strength a little and so is very worthy of disc 3 attention.

Mythril RacketLong-range weapon made of mythril.
  Attack: 27
Elem-Atk: Wind
[A] Reflect: 20 (Garnet), 25 (Eiko)
[A] Shell: 35 (Garnet), 20 (Eiko)
[A] Protect: 30 (Garnet, Eiko)
[Restricted]
  • Find in Terra.
  • Purchase in Esto Gaza, Daguerreo.

Consisting of the three primary defence magics infused in chewy mythril, learning the skills from this racket means the rest of the party can enjoy 50% protection from pretty much anything, or even total magical immunity via Reflect.

Priest's RacketLong-range holy racket.
  Attack: 35
Elem-Atk: Wind
[A] Silence: 30 (Garnet), 25 (Eiko)
[A] Might: 25 (Eiko)
[Restricted]
  • Synth from Air Racket/Cachusha.

I hope you kept a spare Air Racket or two, because you need one for this. As there is only one more powerful white mage weapon available but two white mages, someone is going to be left carrying weaker equipment. Make sure it is the Priest's Racket and not the much older Mythril.

Tiger RacketThe most powerful long-range racket.
  Attack: 45
Elem-Atk: Wind
[A] Dispel: 25 (Eiko)
[Unique]
  • Dive from Quan's Dwelling on Choco.

The ultimate racket can't quite compare with the ultimate swords with only 45 attack power and one small ability. But, if Eiko or Dagger are in the back row and have nothing to do this round, they could do a lot worse than attack with this rather effective weapon.
