Scripted by: Matthew
Proofreading: Ayako
Notation: A * before a person or action means the following dialogue will execute when you talk to them or perform the action.
Indented script implies nested script. If an action is not performed, then all indented code following it is ignored.
The 'exception' to this rule is when a dialogue is necessary to continue the script. In this case, the following script is not indented.
- * Yes
- Dagger: You said "yes."
- * No
- Dagger: You said "no."
- Dagger: I'll say this no matter what you chose.
Final Fantasy IX introduces a new way to find hidden items, and then makes you use it. Items are hidden all over the place, and in most rooms. Any items I've found are listed, with locations, beneath the scene introduction.
Statements of this form are actions.
- Vivi falls over.
If a speaker's name is enclosed in parentheses, then they aren't credited with that line. That is to say that their name isn't displayed in the speech bubble.
- (Steiner): WHAT!!?
Nearly all lines are said with a small gesture from the speaker, but significant gestures are enclosed in parentheses after the name.
- Zidane (nods): Yeah.
[Square brackets] signify that the line is spoken if that person is in the party, while {curly braces} signify those currently not in the party.
- Zidane {Dagger}: I miss Dagger. She's not in the party.
- Vivi [Dagger]: Yay! Dagger's back!
If a group of lines are surrounded as below, then only one of them is spoken. The lines are ordered by priority.
- [
- Dagger: Dagger is in the party. w00t!
- Steiner: I'm in the party, but the Princess isn't! PRINCESS!?
- Zidane: Where are Dagger and Rusty?

This script wouldn't be readable without the tireless work of my proofreader, Ayako Kiyomizu. Words cannot express my gratitude.
