A small wooden boat is tossed around on a very stormy sea. There are two hooded passengers clinging on inside. We briefly glimpse their faces. Fade to a princess awakening with a start. She gets up from her chair and looks out the window. She is in a big castle overlooking a town. The entire area is situated on a mountain plateau, surrounded by mist. We follow some birds to see a mermaid figurehead on a large boat, flying on the mist. Inside, a young male with a monkey-like tail descends a pole, and goes through a nearby door.

A door opens at the top of some stairs, and a man in a dragon mask appears. He leaps toward the group, and roars.

* After enough damage, the mask shatters.
UGHUAA! Oh, my head! Go easy, you guys!

Masked Man: Use a Potion to restore HP!
(Everyone): Whew...
Baku: Hey, fools!
Baku (to Zidane): You're lookin' a lot better!
Baku: Gwahahaha!
Baku: Alright! Let's start this meeting already!
He kicks the door open, and everyone follows him in.

We see a model castle on the table.
Baku: Tantalus, the infamous band of daring thieves (that's us), is headin' to the Kingdom of Alexandria...
Baku: Our mission: to kidnap the heir to the throne, Princess Garnet! (He holds up a doll.)
Cinna: I'll take it from here, so listen up!
Cinna: Our ship's about to dock at Alexandria...
Cinna: And when it does, we're gonna put on our costumes...

Cinna: Break a leg, Marcus! 'Cause you're playin' the lead!
Marcus: Leave the actin' to me! Of course, the real kidnappers'll be Blank and Zidane!
