Young Man: Who cares? This is a piece of cake compared to farming. Better money, too.
The Man turns around.
(Man): ......
Man: H-Hey! Is that scary guy in armor running toward US!?
The Young Man takes a look.
(Young Man): ......
Young Man: Let's get outta here!
They run away.
Outside the airship
Steiner runs on, and looks around the place, Steiner-style.
Steiner: This barrel... What could be inside!?
Steiner: What could they possibly be shipping out from this village?
The barrel wobbles.
(Steiner): What the-
Steiner: Did I just see that barrel move?
Steiner: Let's see...

Steiner draws his sword, and stabs the barrel.
(Steiner): Hyah!
(The barrel): OW!
Zidane leaps out of the barrel.

Zidane: You almost stabbed Dagger!
Steiner: The princess!?
Zidane leaps off the barrel and, via Steiner's head, to the floor.

It wobbles some more, then falls onto Steiner.

Steiner: Princess, what in the world is going on!?

Dagger: Zidane, I don't know what to say to Vivi. I never knew anything suspicious was going on at the castle...
Zidane: We still don't know for sure. Let's stay by Vivi's side.
She nods. Zidane kneels to Vivi.
Steiner: (This is not the time to panic...)
Steiner: (I must get the princess onboard the cargo ship somehow.)

Zidane (stands): Yo, Rusty, do you know where this airship's going?
(Steiner): ......

A Black Waltz flies over, and teleports around them. It eventually settles.
(Black Waltz): Princess Garnet, the queen is waiting for you at the castle!
Zidane: You were all sent by the castle!?

Zidane: You were all unconscious from the blizzard. He said he was a Black Waltz!

He leaves.
Dagger: Steiner... He was so adamant about going back to the castle before...

Dagger: An airship full of barrels like the ones I saw at the castle... Steiner was against going...
Dagger: Zidane, is this ship really headed for Lindblum?
Zidane: No. It'll probably take us straight to Alexandria Castle.

He runs toward the ship, turns back to Dagger, and does the Tantalus salute.
Behind the ship
(Zidane): This way!
Vivi enters, and with a nod from Zidane, climbs up the ladder. Dagger also enters.
Zidane: Hurry up!
Dagger shakes her head.
Zidane: You have nothing to worry about. Hurry, before she takes off!
Dagger: But...
Zidane: I'll take you to Lindblum. I promise!
He carries her over to the base of the ladder.
Dagger: Fine, I'll get on!
(Zidane): It's taking off!
She climbs. Zidane leaps on just afterwards and 'accidentally' misses the ladder with his hand.
(Dagger): Aaah!
Zidane: Ooo, soft...
Movie: The airship takes off.
Back of the ship
Zidane: Come on, it's not like I did it on purpose.
Dagger: Please, enough.
Zidane: There's that royal tone in your voice again.
Zidane: ...Are you okay, Vivi?
Vivi: Feels like I'm going to get sucked into the sky...
Dagger: Let's go inside, Vivi.
Dagger opens the door for him. He goes through, followed by Dagger. She stops.
Dagger: I trust you, Zidane.
She leaves. Zidane starts to follow, but the door slams in his face.
Zidane: I get the feeling she doesn't quite trust me yet...
Zidane: Maybe she'll reward me with a kiss or two if I try hard enough.
Dagger bursts back in.
Zidane: (Wow, already!?)

They go through the doorway.

Vivi is trying to get the attention of one of the mages.

Dagger: Oh, Vivi...

Vivi gives up and walks over, crushed.

He shakes his head and stands back up to address Dagger.

She nods.

He gets up and faces Zidane.
Steiner: Why, you...! Where is the princess!?
Zidane: In the engine room.
Steiner: She is on the ship!?
Zidane nods.
Steiner: All is well, now. This ship is returning to the castle.
Steiner: You will be hanged for the kidnapping of a member of the royal family! Enjoy your freedom while you can.
He moves to block the hatch.

* Pilot's window
Zidane: It's like he doesn't even see me...
* Enter bridge
Steiner: At last! Queen Brahne is sure to be pleased.
Steiner: However...the princess would have been left behind without the thief's aid...
Steiner: I shall petition for a life sentence on his behalf. Yes, that would be the honorable thing!
Steiner: But that was because the crew wouldn't listen! I must run a background check on them.
Steiner: Ah, yes. It is my duty as a knight!
The ship shudders.
(Steiner): Wh-What the-
Movie: The ship makes a sharp turn. As it passes by a mountain, a Black Waltz rises from a ship of its own. It looks to the ship, narrows its eyes, and begins to crackle with Thunder.
Bridge
Zidane is steering.
(Original pilot): ......
Steiner runs in.
(Steiner): Y-Y-Y
Zidane: What's wrong? Something stuck in your throat?
(Steiner): Y-You insolent fool!
(Steiner): Turn the ship around!
He lunges for Zidane, but he leaps back out of his way and hangs from the ceiling.
(Steiner): Graaagh!!!
He tries again, and Zidane dodges.
Steiner: I will have your head for that!
The deck fills with the mages. Zidane stops hanging around.
Zidane: Hey, I think we upset them.
Steiner (looks around): But they didn't respond to anything until now...
Steiner: You're the one who started this trouble!
Steiner (to mages): I apologize!
Steiner: Please wait while I take this fool into custody and turn the ship around.
They all turn to the front of the ship.
(Steiner): Wh-What's wrong!?
Front of the ship
Dagger is there with Vivi. She nods and walks off. Just as Vivi starts to follow, a Black Waltz descends behind him. He turns.
(Vivi): No...!
The Black Waltz uses a spell on Vivi, knocking him backwards.
(Someone): Vivi!
Dagger runs back on, and kneels to him.
(Dagger): Are you okay!?
(Black Waltz): So, No. 2 was defeated by a small child! You are no match against my power!
Black Waltz No. 3: Kwahahaha! Princess, stay there while I eliminate this child!
The other mages stand between Vivi and the Black Waltz.
Black Waltz No. 3: Are you protecting him?
They look at Vivi. He stands up. They all face the Black Waltz.
Black Waltz No. 3: ...Nonsense. You are no different from mindless dolls! What can you do?
Dagger drags Vivi away.
Black Waltz No. 3: Get out of my way! Do you dare to fight a Black Waltz?
They raise their arms, and begin casting Fire.
Black Waltz No. 3: I said, get out of my way!
The Black Waltz uses the spell again, sending one flying.
Movie: A huge explosion on the ship. The mages are scattered, lifeless, by the blast. Barrels fall from the ship, exploding and releasing more mages. Vivi watches them fall, and Dagger holds him. After things calm down, the party sees the Black Waltz coming toward them unharmed.
Bridge, ruined
Steiner: Wh-What cruelty!
(Vivi): ...Aaahhh!
He runs out on deck.
Steiner: Master Vivi, I shall assist you!
He follows.
Zidane: Hey, you guys!
He starts to follow, but stops and turns to Dagger.
(Zidane): Dagger!
(Dagger): Y-Yes?
Zidane: We'll take care of the Black Waltz. You steer the ship.
Zidane: Things are gonna get even more dangerous from here on. It's not too late to turn back.
Zidane: You can go back to the castle or cross South Gate into Lindblum. It's your choice!
She nods. They stand.
Zidane: I'll be with you either way! But try not to crash the ship!
* (Dagger): I...
* Leave
Dagger: Be careful, Zidane!
(Zidane): I'll be fine!
Deck
Vivi: Why...? Why would you do such a thing!? Weren't they your friends!?
Black Waltz No. 3: You fool. Do I look like some lowly black mage soldier?
Steiner: Even if they weren't your allies, what you did was reprehensible!
Black Waltz No. 3: Kwahahaha! Worry not about them: many more are being produced even now!
Zidane: What are you?
Black Waltz No. 3: Ah, the princess's bodyguards have gathered! How very convenient!
Zidane: Answer me!
Black Waltz No. 3: It wouldn't do you any good if I answered, since you're all going to die! Kwahahaha!

He flies off.
Steiner: Just how many Black Waltzes do we have to fight!? This is becoming ridiculous!
Zidane: I think that was the last one.
Steiner: How do you know!? Are you...!?
Zidane: He said 'Waltz,' right? Don't you think No. 3 would be the last one?
(Steiner): ?
Zidane: (I can see South Gate... She's gonna go for it!)
He starts to head to the bridge, but turns back to Vivi. He taps him on the shoulder and nods at him, then goes off to see Dagger. Vivi notices a mage hat stuck on the side of the ship.
Another ship
Zorn: Did you see that?
Thorn: That, I did see!
Zorn: Our enhanced black mages!
Thorn: Our black mage enhancements!
Zorn: All defeated!
Thorn: Betrayed us, Steiner did! It is all his fault!
Zorn notices something.
Zorn: Huh?
Thorn: Unstable, the ship becomes! Don't let go of the steering wheel!
Zorn: No. 3 is coming back!
Thorn: True is it!? Hurray!
Zorn: But something is wrong...
Zorn: It's broken!!!
Thorn: Made its magic too powerful, we did!
Zorn: There's nothing we can do now!
Thorn: Depart shall we!
Zorn: We shall depart!
Thorn/Zorn: Run away!
They bail out. Black Waltz No. 3 lands in the ship.
Black Waltz No. 3: I exist only to kill! I exist only to kill! I exist only to kill! I exist only to kill...!
Bridge
Zidane: Do you see South Gate?
(Dagger): Yes!
Zidane: South Gate is a huge gate built exclusively for airships, but...
Zidane: ...maneuvering through it could be tricky. Do you want me to do it, Dagger?
Dagger: I want to do it on my own...
(Zidane): Alright...
Zidane: We don't have clearance. They might close the gate on us.
Zidane: It should be okay, though. Security was totally lax when I came through here on the theater ship.
Zidane: It'll be fine, Captain Dagger!
(Dagger): Roger!
Zidane heads to the engine.
Zidane: ...It's old, but the engine's got power.
Steiner (enters): We must turn back!!!
Steiner: Princess! Please turn the ship around!
Steiner: The Black Waltz is heading straight toward us on an airship!
Zidane goes to look.
Steiner: He might crash into us!
Zidane (returns): Dagger, Rusty's right! It's headed straight for us!
Zidane: Punch it! Go through South Gate!
Steiner: Don't be ridiculous! What if the gate closes on us!?
Zidane: There's no way we can outmaneuver him in this cargo ship!
Zidane: We'll slide in before the gate closes and shut him out! That's our only chance!
Zidane: Rusty! Turn the power up to max with that lever over there!
Zidane: Dagger, stay on course no matter what!
(Dagger): Okay!
Zidane: I know we can make it!
Steiner starts pulling the lever.
Movie: The ship maneuvers between the mountains toward South Gate, Dagger at the wheel. The Black Waltz's much smaller ship gains on them. Vivi ducks as it skims theirs, sending the hat into the mist. The Black Waltz builds up an attack, but it is met by Vivi and an explosion sends the Black Waltz's ship into a spiral. Vivi collapses, and Zidane runs out to check on him. South Gate looms closer, and the doors are nearly closed. The Black Waltz regains control, and follows them as they just squeeze through the gate. The effort throws Vivi off the side, but Zidane manages to hold on to him. The Black Waltz builds up another attack, but his magic sets fire to his engines. The cargo ship just makes it through the other doors as the smaller ship explodes.
