End of the road

Barret: Well, what do we do now?
Cloud (walks to the edge): Sephiroth is alive. ...I have to settle the score.
Barret: Will that save the Planet?
Cloud: ...It seems so.
Barret: Then, I'm going!
Aerith: I'll go, too. There are things I need to know.
Tifa walks over.
Cloud: About the Ancients?
Aerith: ...Many things.
Tifa: I guess it's goodbye, Midgar.

Outside Midgar gates

Tifa and Cloud climb down a hook and leap on to the floor.

* Barret: We told Aerith's mom to go somewhere safe, so Marlene should be safe, too.
    * Yeah, she should be
        Aerith: She said she didn't want to stay in Midgar anymore. ...Maybe it's for the best.
    * Hmm, I don't know
        Aerith: Stop it, Cloud! I'm worried too.

* Aerith: You know what? This is the first time I've ever left Midgar...
    * Really? Are you worried?
        Aerith: A little... no, maybe a lot. But I have a bodyguard, right?
    * It's dangerous. Are you sure you want to go?
        Aerith: I thought you'd say that!

* Tifa: ...I guess this is the start of our journey...
    * You hate travelling?
        Tifa: ...I don't know. But, I don't have anywhere else to go. So I guess it doesn't really matter whether I like to travel or not.
    * It's dangerous. Are you sure you want to go?
        Tifa: ...Hmm. But you know, it should be all right if you keep your promise.

* Red XIII: I'm going back to my hometown. I'll go with you as far as that.

* Leave
    Cloud: Then...
    * Let's stay here for a while
    * Let's go!
        Barret (shadow boxing): We need a leader for our journey. 'Course that could only be me.
        Tifa: You think so?
        Aerith (peers round his shoulder at him): I think it should be Cloud.
        Barret freezes.
        Barret: ^#$^%... alright. Go Northeast to a town called Kalm. If something happens we'll meet up there.
        Barret (sits): 'Sides, we can't all be strolling around out there. It's too dangerous. Let's split into two parties...
        * [Barret and Red XIII]
            Aerith: ...Interesting
            Tifa: ...combination.
            Tifa: Well, have fun... boys.
        * [Aerith and Tifa]
            Barret: Thought you'd do that.
        Rejected:
            Red XIII leaves.
            Tifa: We'll see you at Kalm! (leaves)
            Barret: Later, at Kalm! (leaves)
            Aerith waves and leaves.

Other side of Midgar Swamp

* Get off the Chocobo
    Cloud: ...I got the feeling I'm forgetting something...
    Cloud: Hey, would you stay there just a minute?

Cloud: Did Sephiroth... do this?
Pan up. A giant serpent is impaled on a spike. Lightning flashes.

* Barret: This Sephiroth guy's pretty strong, I'd say.

* Red XIII: It's a power that we should respect...

* Tifa: Amazing...

* Aerith: Our enemy is someone that could do this?

Mithril caves

[
    Tifa: Hey, Cloud. Wasn't Kalm right before this cavern?
    Aerith: Cloud! Are you lost!?
]
Barret {Tifa}: Yo, wassup? Can't SOLDIER-man even lead the way?
Barret [Tifa]: Hey Cloud. If we keep going, we'll never get to Kalm.
Red XIII: If we're planning to meet at Kalm, we should go back and look again.
There is a bug in the above. If the party is Aerith and Red XIII, then the script is as for Tifa and Red XIII. She is even called Tifa.

Chocobo Ranch

* Chocobo
    Wark! Wark? Warkwark wark?
    * Warrrk
        Wark!! Wark!!
        Angry wark.
    * Wark
        They dance.
        Wark--
        Woohehoo.
        <Choco/Mog>

* Chocobo
    Wark!
    Wroo.

The house

* Bedroom
    Choco Bill: Looking for an Inn?
    * Yeah
        Choco Bill: How about 100gil a night...?
        * All right
            Choco Bill: Thank you for your patrionage.
        * I'm in a hurry
            Choco Bill: Hmm, then, I guess that's that.
    * Not interested
        Choco Bill: Hmm, then, I guess that's that.

* Choco Bill: Thinking of crossing the marshes? / Still want to cross the Marshes?
    * Not interested / No
        Choco Bill: Hmm, then, I guess that's that.
    * Yeah / Yes
        Choco Bill: Hmm, then it'll probably be safer for you to get a Chocobo.
        Choco Bill: That way you can zip through the marshes with the Chocobo. It's the only way to avoid being attacked by the Midgar Zolom.
        Choco Bill: Midgar Zolom...?
        Choco Bill: It's a serpent-like creature over 30 feet tall!!
        Choco Bill: It detects the footsteps of anyone in the marshes.
        Choco Bill: And then, BAM!! It attacks!!!
        Choco Bill: To avoid that, buy a Chocobo at me and Choco Billy's Chocobo Farm. To purchase a Chocobo, please talk to my grandson. He's in the Chocobo stables at the far right end of the farm.

* Choco Bill: By the way, there was another person heading towards the Marshes. Without a Chocobo, the Midgar Zolom probably got him. It was a man in a black cape.

Stables

* Chole: Wasn't it really expensive?
    Chole: But don't be mad at my brother or Grandpa.
    Chole: Ever since Mom and Dad died, it's been like this...

* Choco Billy: Do you want a Chocobo?
    Cloud: Mmm...
    * Nope
        Choco Billy: Oh, I'm so glad!
    * Give me one
        Choco Billy: You old folks are out of luck!
        Cloud: Old folks...?
        Choco Billy: We're all out of Chocobos. I'm taking care of the ones out there for someone else.
    Choco Billy: You know, if you really want a Chocobo, you should go out and catch one.
    Choco Billy: Want to know how to catch a Chocobo?
    * Where are they?
        Choco Billy: You see those claw prints out there? Wild Chocobos will appear in those areas. But, if you don't have a 'Chocobo Lure' they won't come out. They're very cautious by nature.
        * Chocobo Lure?
            Choco Billy: 'Chocobo Lure' is a type of Materia which attracts Chocobos. If you equip this, they'll come to you. But, without it, they won't appear.
        * Go on
        Choco Billy: Want to know how to catch a Chocobo?
    * How do I catch one?
        Choco Billy: A wild Chocobo always appears with other monsters. But, you won't be able to catch it because of the monsters. That is why you must defeat the monsters first before you catch the Chocobo.
        * And then?
            Choco Billy: Wild Chocobos are really cautious. They'll run away from the smallest things. But, if you use 'Greens' they'll focus on them and won't run away.
        * Is that all you can talk about?
        Choco Billy: Want to know how to catch a Chocobo?
    * What else?
        Choco Billy: Whatever you do, don't make Chocobos angry. They're usually calm, but if you get them angry, you'll get hurt. Oh, and remember, once you get off a Chocobo, it'll escape.
        Choco Billy: Want to know how to catch a Chocobo?
    * Not interested
        Choco Billy: Well then, shall we get down to business?
        Choco Billy: I'll sell you the 'Chocobo Lure' for 2000gil, right now.
        Choco Billy: You want it?
        * Don't buy it
            Choco Billy: Mmmm, if you don't have it, you'll never catch one.
        * Buy it
            Choco Billy: Thanks!
            Choco Billy: It wouldn't hurt to buy some 'Greens', either. Oh, and how fast a Chocobo'll finish eating depends on what type of 'Greens' you feed them.

* Choco Billy, having not bought the Lure: The 'Chocobo Lure' is 2000gil. Buy it now?
    * Don't buy it
        Choco Billy: Mmmm, if you don't have it, you'll never catch one.
    * Buy it
        Choco Billy: Thanks!
        Choco Billy: It wouldn't hurt to buy some 'Greens', either. Oh, and how fast a Chocobo'll finish eating depends on what type of 'Greens' you feed them. Shop.

* Choco Billy, having bought the Lure
    Shop for Greens.
