
Diablos
A mixed bag of curious abilities await those dark enough to recruit Diablos to their cause. His shadowy stylings carry with them a gravity-based attack, doing damage based on the enemies' current HP. This means that it is more effective against stronger opponents, though its usefulness decreases as the battle draws on. It is also, sadly, frequently ineffective against bosses. Regarding abilities, Diablos is interestingly one of the only sources of Hit-J, though hit accuracy is hardly anything to get excited about. Three HP boosters, on the other hand, are much more interesting and a useful accompaniment to the self-sacrificing Darkside command. Special note must be made of Mug, which is an invaluable source of items. Enc-Half and Enc-None are also lifesavers in heavily-guarded areas. Abilityx3 makes it easy to mix and match this pick and mix as the situation requires.
Attack
Dark Messenger
Darkness falls. It becomes an ominous purple sky, teeming with bats. They fly together to form a growing black ball above the enemy. After a while, Diablos drips out from the underside of the ball. He spreads his wings, releasing more bats. He reaches up to take hold of the ball, and red and yellow tendrils of electricity surround it and his arm. His hand enters the ball, and he arches his back to throw it at the enemy. It heads for them, leaving a purple trail of fire. The enemy are squashed beneath it. Viewed from above as the ball lands, we see nothing but the purple cone of fire. A set of eight symbols are formed on this cone, and then another, larger one forms on the ball. Diablos and the scene then disappear.

Location
Inside the key item Magical Lamp. This can be acquired by talking to Headmaster Cid after Squall becomes a SeeD, though it may then be kept for later use if you don't feel up to it. Use the Lamp to challenge Diablos; if you win, he will join you.
