Combat Items
These items, as the page title suggests, may only be used on the battlefield with the Item ability. They offer a variety of effects both offensive and supportive, ranging from solid lumps of Ultima to invincibility potions.
| Hero-trial | |||
|---|---|---|---|
| Usage | When it works, Hero-trial temporarily renders its target character translucent, during which time they will be completely invulnerable. The problem is that it only works half of the time, other times wasting both the item and its user's turn. | ||
| Refine | N/A | ||
| Win | Mug | ||
| Hero | |||
| Usage | The foolproof incarnation of the Hero-trial, granting its target invulnerability without the risk of it failing. This is particularly effective for freezing a fighter at low HP and allowing them to Limit Break with impunity. | ||
| Refine | N/A | ||
| Win | Diablos Seifer (Auditorium) |
Mug | Fujin (Balamb) Seifer (Auditorium) Seifer (Deling) |
| Holy War-trial | |||
| Usage | Because Mega-Hero-trial has too many hyphens. While still suffering from the coin toss gamble, when Holy War-trial works it affects everyone in the party. | ||
| Refine | N/A | ||
| Win | Mug | ||
| Holy War | |||
| Usage | This rare beauty is enough to make Omega Weapon weep. With the use of a single item, the entire party is granted immunity from even the most devastating of attacks. The effects will wear off after a while, so be sure to make the most of it. | ||
| Refine | N/A | ||
| Win | Seifer (Auditorium) | Mug | Seifer (Auditorium) |
| Shell Stone | |||
| Usage | The Shell stone replicates the effects of Shell magic on its target, temporarily halving the damage they will take from future magical attacks. | ||
| Refine | 1xShell Stone -> 1xShell (Supt Mag-RF)
1xRune Armlet -> 10xShell Stone (Tool-RF) 1xForce Armlet -> 30xShell Stone (Tool-RF) | ||
| Win | Mug | ||
| Protect Stone | |||
| Usage | Where there is Shell, so shall there be Protect. Where the former grants protection from magic, Protect causes physical damage against the target to be halved. | ||
| Refine | 1xProtect Stone -> 1xProtect (Supt Mag-RF)
1xTurtle Shell -> 10xProtect Stone (Tool-RF) 1xOrihalcon -> 30xProtect Stone (Tool-RF) | ||
| Win | Mug | ||
| Aura Stone | |||
| Usage | Under the effects of an Aura stone, a character is infused with a golden glow and will be able to use Limit Breaks with much more HP than usual. | ||
| Refine | 1xAura Stone -> 1xAura (Supt Mag-RF)
1xFury Fragment -> 2xAura Stone (Tool-RF) 1xSteel Pipe -> 1xAura Stone (Tool-RF) 1xStrength Love -> 2xAura Stone (Tool-RF) 1xPower Wrist -> 10xAura Stone (Tool-RF) 1xCirclet -> 2xAura Stone (Tool-RF) 1xHypno Crown -> 10xAura Stone (Tool-RF) | ||
| Win | Mug | ||
| Death Stone | |||
| Usage | Death can kill most targets instantaneously, though it will usually fail against the more powerful monsters. Using a Death Stone rather than the spell itself allows you to keep the magic for the purposes of junctioning. | ||
| Refine | 1xDeath Stone -> 1xDeath (L Mag-RF)
1xDead Spirit -> 2xDeath Stone (Tool-RF) | ||
| Win | Mug | ||
| Holy Stone | |||
| Usage | The power of light condensed into stone form to be used via the Item command. When activated, it hits a chosen opponent with heavy Holy magic. | ||
| Refine | 1xHoly Stone -> 1xHoly (L Mag-RF)
1xMoon Stone -> 2xHoly Stone (Tool-RF) | ||
| Win | Mug | ||
| Flare Stone | |||
| Usage | Flare carries versions of the three primary elements - Fire, Blizzard, Thunder - combined and enhanced to produce a powerful multi-element attack. | ||
| Refine | 1xFlare Stone -> 1xFlare (F Mag-RF)
1xInferno Fang -> 2xFlare Stone (Tool-RF) | ||
| Win | Mug | ||
| Meteor Stone | |||
| Usage | Using a Meteor stone in battle replicates the similarly-named magic, pulling a cluster of meteors from deep space and throwing them at the enemy party for a multiple-hit, non-elemental attack. | ||
| Refine | 1xMeteor Stone -> 1xMeteor (Forbid Mag-RF)
1xStar Fragment -> 1xMeteor Stone (Tool-RF) | ||
| Win | Mug | Droma | |

1xEnergy Crystal -> 2xUltima Stone (Tool-RF) | ||
| Win | Ultima Weapon | Mug | |
| Gysahl Greens | |||
| Usage | After adopting your very own chocobo in one of the forests around the world, he may be summoned into battle with some tasty veggies. The type of attack he performs may be changed over time as he explores the (external) Chocobo World minigame. | ||
| Refine | N/A | ||
| Win | Mug | ||
| Phoenix Pinion | |||
| Usage | This upgraded Phoenix Down is linked to the hidden Guardian Force, Phoenix. Using it summons the great bird from the ashes, reviving all fallen allies and dealing heavy Fire damage to the enemy ranks. Having Phoenix Pinions in your inventory also increases the chances of him being summoned on your behalf should the entire party fall. | ||
| Refine | 1xPhoenix Pinion -> 100xFiraga (F Mag-RF)
3xMega Phoenix -> 1xPhoenix Pinion (Tool-RF) | ||
| Win | Mug | ||
| Friendship | |||
| Usage | If Boko finds Moomba in Chocobo World, he can be brought into battle by using a Friendship item. Moomba's devastating attack instantly reduces the enemy's HP to 1, but this is offset by the item's obscene rarity. | ||
| Refine | N/A | ||
| Win | Mug | ||
