Final Fantasy VIII Items

Potions and Remedies

One of the basic foundations of the battle system, this collection of items can save your life and should be kept to hand at all times. Each of these may be used either in or out of battle, with largely similar results, but note that to use them during combat you must junction the Item ability.

Potion
Usage

Restores 200HP, up to the target's maximum. May be used either in or out of battle; When used in battle, the Potion may be given to any living being on the field. If the target is undead or a Zombie, it deals damage instead.

Phoenix Down
Usage

A true lifesaver. Phoenix Downs are one of the few ways to revive fallen allies, and are certainly one of the most common. As such they should be bought in huge quantities because combat is a dangerous game. After reviving, a character will have a fraction of their maximum HP, and will be free of any status ailments they may have suffered from prior to death. A Phoenix Down will instantly kill a zombie.
