Scan:Fire GF; uses fire magic. It's a strong opponent, but, as it is part of Garden's exam, not impossible to defeat.
Location:Fire Cavern

This is it, the end result of the Fire Cavern exam. The timer stops after this battle, so there is no need to panic if you end with just a second to spare.

Ifrit has a great deal of HP and will take some punishment. His high defence means physical attacks are weak but still effective, particularly when chained together in a Renzokuken. Ice is, naturally, his natural weakness, so break open the stock of Blizzards and maybe invoke Shiva if the going gets tough. By far the most effective attack you will have at your disposal is Quistis' limit break Laser Eye.

Fighting with limit breaks is dangerous, however, as Ifrit backs up his fire attacks with very powerful punches. Two of these will probably kill a target. Fortunately, Ifrit carries Cure which may be drawn if you get nervous.

Besides his punch, which he rarely uses anyway, Ifrit poses little danger. Keep the attacks coming, Curing as necessary, and taking advantage of his sluggish speed to pack in the actions.
