A student at Galbadia Garden, Irvine has yet to take the SeeD exam and is in no particular hurry to do so. His time in Garden is spent honing his inner calm to follow the path of the sniper, where he has already gained a reputation for his deadly accurate aim.
When not focusing down the barrel of a gun, Irvine's sights are usually trained on anything in a skirt, and in that respect life at Garden suits him well enough. After joining Squall on his mission, it doesn't take long for his charms to work their magic on Selphie. However, behind the laid-back attitude and flirty personality beats the heart of a loner who knows that he holds the power of life and death in the next chamber of his rifle.
When it comes to combat, Irvine prefers to take his shotgun into battle to deal major damage at close range. His standard attacks lack the speed and finesse of others', but make up for it in power. Ammunition is only required for his limit break, which allows him to perform special attacks depending on what he has loaded.
