As a student of the remote Trabia Garden, Selphie is temporarily transferred to Balamb in order to take her SeeD exam. She is sent to Dollet with the intel squad, where she is assigned the unenviable task of trying to get Seifer to follow orders.
In contrast to the taciturn Squall, Selphie is permanently upbeat and takes life with a giggle. Even within Garden, she devotes much of her time to the festival committee and meeting people over the academy BBS. Her optimistic and even occasionally naive attitude is an unexpected, if welcome, breath of fresh air during tense operations.
In combat, Selphie is deceptively adept with her nunchaku, but her real strength lies in her spellcasting prowess. Traditional paramagic is of practically second nature to her thanks to her high magic stats. When in a critical condition, she may also cast randomly-selected spells for free via her Slot limit break.
