Eternal Legend - Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy X Aeons

Central to Yuna's pilgrimage is the acquisition of Aeons, beings of immense power who will lend their skills to her in order to defeat Sin. They can be summoned in battle, but go far beyond the summons of previous Final Fantasies. They are living creatures who, once summoned, will remain fully controllable until either slain or dismissed. They replace the current party, protecting Yuna and the rest from attack. Should one fall in battle, the party will return exactly as they were.

If Yuna is to succeed in her quest, she must care for her Aeons and improve their skills. This can be done both passively and actively, as the strength of an Aeon depends on the strength of its summoner. As Yuna's statistics increase, so do those of her summons, albeit not in direct parallel. They also improve with experience, raising their statistics as Yuna faces more opponents. Thus, the initial stats given on the following pages are lower bounds, and an Aeon recruited later in the journey may start off much stronger. We'll provide detailed information on the levelling up process when we have it.

Once in possession of the Summoner's Soul and Aeon's Soul key items, Yuna can directly increase an Aeon's statistics and even teach them new skills, in exchange for some inventory items. Again, full details will appear once we have them.

In battle, Aeons have two additional skills, Shield and Boost. The former takes a defensive stance, reducing damage but also freezing their Overdrive gauge. The latter increases the damage they take from attack, but also increases the rate at which their gauge charges.
