Swordplay
Tidus' overdrives are about his sword, in which he uses his natural athletic ability to make up for his amateur fighting skills. After choosing a command and (if applicable) a target, the action pauses and a slider appears on-screen. A blip oscillates rapidly across the bar, going faster for the more powerful techniques. If you can stop the slider in the centre of the bar before the time runs out, the resulting attack deals extra damage.
New techniques may be learned by repeated use of old ones.

Tidus starts with this ability.
Tidus cartwheels and backflips towards the chosen target, finally landing on them with the blade of his sword.
Tidus performs six energetic sword swipes as he dances around the enemy party, with each hitting a random opponent.
Tidus leaps into the air, raining beams of light onto the enemy party and hitting them for heavy damage.
Tidus hits the chosen enemy with eight rapid-fire slashes, before embedding his sword in the ground and leaping from its hilt. A party member then throws a blitzball to him, and he performs a Sphere Shot-style overhead kick if the slider was hit.
