- Tidus wakes up on the deck of a ship. His captors turn to face him, one of whom jabs him with his bayonet.

- The door opens, and the girl and another guy come out on deck. The blonde guy bows.
- Other guy: Caynir res!
- The girl lifts Tidus to his feet. The other guy makes swimming motions.
- Tidus: Right. Whatever.
- Other guy: Tu oui hud cbayg?
- He holds out some goggles.
- Tidus: I said I don't understand!
- Blonde (angry): Ehcumahla!
- Girl: Fyed!
- Girl: He said you can stay if you make yourself useful.
- Tidus: You...You understand me?
- The masked guy hits him.
- Tidus: All right, I'll work!

- Tidus: What's this? Some kind of crane?

- He dives into the water.

- Lights flash on, and the whatever-it-is becomes active. From a creature's POV, we see it swim towards the party.

- The girl indicates a hole in the wall, and swims out.
- Outside
- Powerful searchlights come on all around the thing, scaring off the fish. Tidus swims up to what looks like a sunken airship, illuminated by the lights.

- Masked: Fa vuiht dra airship!
- Old guy: Dra naluntc fana nekrd.
- Tidus climbs aboard and shakes himself dry.
- Other guy: Huf, ruf du tnyk ed ib?
- The group enter the ship, but they stop Tidus.
- Blue guy: Oui, uidceta!
- They close the door.
- Tidus: Hey, I helped out, didn't I?

- Tidus: Uhh...hungry.
- He yawns, and the girl kicks his elbow out from under him. She places down a tray of food.
- Tidus: Whoa! Right on!
- He scarfs it down, and begins to choke.
- (Girl): Hey!
- He grabs a water (thingy), and drinks.
- Girl: It's 'cause you eat too fast!
- He gets up and stretches.
- Girl: Hey!
- Tidus: Hello there. What is your name?
- Girl: Rikku.
- Tidus (dances): Whoa! You really do understand!
- She backs off.
- Tidus: Why didn't you say so earlier?
- Rikku: I didn't get a chance to!
- Rikku: Everyone thought oui were a fiend.
- Tidus: Uh..."we"?
- Rikku: Oh, "oui" means "you".
- (Tidus): Umm...
- Tidus: Who are you guys, anyway?
- Rikku: We're Al Bhed. Can't you tell?
- Rikku: Wait. You're not an Al Bhed-hater, are you?
- Tidus: I don't even know what an Al Bhed is.

- He motions a kick.

- He joins her at the side of the deck, and looks out to sea.
- Tidus, VO: So I told her everything there was to tell about Zanarkand...
- Tidus, VO: About life there, blitzball, and Sin's attack...
- Tidus, VO: and about how Auron and I were engulfed in this light.
- Tidus, VO: I just said things as they came to mind. But then I started to wonder.
- Rikku stares.
- Tidus: Did I say something funny?
- Rikku: You were near Sin.
- (Tidus): Mmhm.
- Rikku: Don't worry, you'll be better in no time.
- Rikku: They say your head gets funny when Sin is near.
- Rikku: Maybe you just had some kind of dream?
- Tidus: You mean I'm sick?
- Rikku: Because of Sin's toxin, yeah.
- Tidus: You sure?
- Rikku: Yeah, there is no Zanarkand anymore.
- Rikku: Sin destroyed it a thousand years ago.
- Rikku: So...no one plays blitzball there.
- She walks off a little way.
- (Tidus): Huh?
- Tidus: What do you mean, a thousand years ago?
- Tidus: But I saw Sin attack Zanarkand!
- Tidus: You're saying that happened a thousand years ago? No way!
- * Rikku: You said...
- Rikku: You play blitzball?
- (Tidus): Uh huh.
- Rikku: You know, you should go to Luca.
- Rikku: Someone might know who you are, or you might find
- Rikku: someone you recognise.
- Tidus: Luca?
- She sighs, and paces around a bit.
- Rikku: Okay, leave it to me! I'll get you to Luca, promise!
- Rikku: You'd rather stay here?
- Rikku: Okay, I'll go tell the others. Wait here.
- She starts to leave.
- Rikku: Oh, and one thing.
- Rikku: Don't tell anyone you're from Zanarkand, okay?
- Rikku: Yevon says it's a holy place. You might upset someone.
- (Tidus): Oh, uh huh.
- Tidus, VO: My Zanarkand, some kind of holy place? Yeah right, I thought.
- Tidus, VO: Since when?
- Tidus, VO: Yevon? Sin? Luca?
- Tidus, VO: I thought Sin just took me to a faraway place, that I could go back in a day or two.
- Tidus, VO: But a thousand years into the future?
- Tidus: No way!
- He kicks part of the ship, and there is a loud rumble. A wave grows in the distance and advances toward the ship. The Al Bhed pour out from the doorway.
- Al Bhed: Sin!
- Al Bhed: Sin ec lusa!
- Al Bhed: Ihtan ic! Ihtan ic!
- A wave drags Tidus from the ship and into a vortex of water. It all goes very black.
