Gun Mage
The funky modern Spiran take on the blue mage, Gun Mages are in tune with the magical energies of the world but also know how to handle a little recoil. A variety of Blue Bullet attacks are on offer for the mage to learn, including the white magics of White Wind and Mighty Guard as well as the sheer satisfaction of Supernova and Bad Breath.
In addition to learning their skills, the Gun Mage really knows the ins and outs of their adversaries. They can Scan for weaknesses and tactical information, and the upgradable Fiend Hunter acts as quad damage when used against the correct species of enemy.

She may be a bit magey, but she still packs a piece to channel her abilities into. The Gun Mage's glowy pistol thing is an unusual combination of magic and machina that doesn't quite beat the cold lead of the Gunner but is still well worth leaving the safety catch off. |

The Blue Bullet is the Gun Mage's core raison d'etre. The mage is able to load the chamber with a variety of enemy skills, ranging from quick low-cost shots and curative magic to world-destroying special boss attacks. The only requirement to use an ability is to have been hit with it from the enemy itself - from then, the skill is learned and becomes a permanent Blue Bullet option. |

Knowledge is power, and knowing is half the battle. While the rest of the party is doing the other half, the Blue Mage can use Scan on opponents to discover their strengths and weaknesses, including elemental attributes and status immunities. Incredibly useful when venturing into new territory, or to check the new dangers when your enemy Oversouls. Plus it's free with no recovery time. |

A good Gun Mage is able to discern the weaknesses of her enemies, but a great one knows them instinctively. The Fiend Hunter set of skills represent her knowledge of a species' vulnerabilities, allowing her to deal four times as much damage. Each skill is effective against a different class of fiend, but they will still deal hefty damage against monsters of other types.

Fiend Hunter is the only offensive skill a Gun Mage may learn in the traditional AP manner, and can pack a major punch against the right enemies. Learning the second level skill cuts the charge time by 40% to allow for quick and powerful attacks. It may not be the rapid fire of Trigger Happy, but it hits them where it hurts. |

The second level Scan doesn't really offer anything that would help in battle. It still reveals the enemy's stats and weak points, and still does so instantaneously and at no MP cost. The difference is that a Scan Lv.2 allows the user to look at the monster from any angle. |

100AP? Must be good. That depends on how anxious you are to cast Scan on allies, as that's all this ability allows you to do. You should hopefully know Rikku's stats before the battle even begins without having to resort to this. |
