Eternal Legend - Final Fantasy X-2
Final Fantasy X-2 Garment Grids

Garment Grids form the basis for combat in Final Fantasy X-2. Despite their apparent similarity to the Sphere Grid, they are solely for use in battle and do not determine character development. Each girl must equip one and only one grid, though they may share if they so wish. Onto each grid, you may place dresspheres in the available nodes. This then determines which garments may be worn. In battle, tapping L1 allows you to Spherechange, moving around the grid via the pathways. Each change takes a short time to complete, so long hauls are not advised during intense combat. Also, you cannot spherechange to an empty node.

The same dressphere may be placed on multiple grids, so using Gunner on First Steps doesn't stop you putting it on Vanguard too. However, in order to put two Gunners on a grid, you need two copies of the dressphere. This is only possible in a New Game Plus. You cannot gain multiple copies of the grids; Each is strictly unique.

Most garment grids offer special incentives in the form of abilities or attribute boosts for equipping them. Some pathways have coloured Gates, which may be passed through in order to gain further bonuses. Once passed through, a gate remains active for the remainder of the battle. Some abilities require more than one gate to be activated before they may be used. In this case, the order of activation does not matter.

Garment grids cannot be changed during combat, so be sure to choose the right ones for the right situations, and always check your grids before charging into danger. The most basic of grids, First Steps, is detailed below in the style used through the rest of the section. To see the rest, either browse through the menu or use the Summary List.

The most basic of grids, notable perhaps only because of its unusually high node count. Few later grids have space for six dresspheres, making this grid useful for general multi-class combat for those who really can't decide what to wear.
