Penelo
Teeny Penelo may be younger than fellow orphan Vaan, but she is more like an older sister to him in terms of keeping him on the rails. Her ever-optimistic attitude helps the two to cope with the situations they have been dealt. Despite her small frame and seemlingly innocent outlook on life, she is no stranger to the ways of combat and believes she can hold her own as long as she has faith.
Penelo fights alongside Vaan for a brief period in Rabanastre, but it is some time before she joins the party as a permanent member. When she does she excels as a magick user with high power and plenty of MP to spend but (predictably) is the weakest of the group in the physical stakes. Ensure she is well protected with armour and positive statuses, and she will be able to do invaluable things with her mystic skills.
