The longer you stay alive, the more BP you earn, but each round adds another handicap. Leaving the Square causes you to lose all of your BP. The Battle Square also houses Dio's prize collection.

The higher Choco's beak level is, the faster he can dig when playing Chocobo Hot & Cold. Needless to say, the quicker he digs, the easier it is to find more items within the time limit. The quickness of his digging translates two ways: first in the amount of time the action takes, and second in the number of depth units he can dig in one stroke once the item location is found.

A powerful fighter, she looks down upon those weaker than herself, which is almost everyone, and despairs over the incompetence of Steiner and his group. After the party clashes swords with her a number of times, she finally sees the truth behind the queen's plans and switches allegiance to the princess Garnet.

An ex-Crusader and now a high-ranking official in the Youth League who arrives in Besaid to teach the Aurochs a thing or two about discipline. He is not happy with what he sees, and nor are they. An old friend of Chappu's, he is particularly disappointed by Wakka's lack of fighting spirit.

A powerful summoner who, despite her obvious talents, failed to defeat Sin many years ago. She remains in Spira as an unsent, where she offers challenges to other summoners in order to train them up. Defeating her in battle rewards Yuna with key items Summoner's Soul and Aeon's Soul, and ultimately allows her to summon the Magus Sisters.

The Guru of Reason from 12,000BC. After the Mammon Machine was activated, Lavos awakened and dispersed the gurus across time. Belthasar ended up in the blighted lands of 2300AD. There, he managed to finish his creation, the "Wings of Time", before the hopelessness of the future claimed the last of his sanity. His final act was to copy his memory into a Nu to stand guard over it.

28 MP. This spell is available when Mystify magic materia is equipped. Berserk attempts to inflict its target with the Berserk status ailment. It is available on materia level 2. Other spells on the materia are: Confu.

A character or enemy suffering from this status ailment will take their turns automatically. They will use a physical attack on a random enemy, and will do so with increased strength. Can be cured with Esuna or Remedy.
