- Black Mage Village
-
FFIX Location
Concealed by illusion, this village deep in a dying forest on the Outer Continent is the home of black mages who, for reasons they themselves don't know, are no longer automatons but have minds of their own. They have fled the humans who once controlled them and established this remote hidden village to attempt to learn about life, which was thrust upon them so suddenly. And perhaps, to learn about death, as well.
- Black magic
-
General Skill
Offensive magic used mainly by black mages. Basic black magic includes elemental spells such as Fire, while the more advanced skills (Ultima) tend to shun elements in order to deal maximum damage to all enemies. Some black magic may inflict status ailments, such as Poison.
- Black Materia
-
A legendary materia sought by Sephiroth, used to summon Meteor, a comet so large that crashing it into the Planet would threaten its life. The Ancients guarded this power by making the Black Materia into the Temple of the Ancients. The only way to gain it is to shrink down the temple from the inside, crushing whomever makes the attempt. The Black Materia's opposite is Holy Materia.
- Black Omen
-
CT Location
The Ocean Palace, risen from the depths after the destruction of Zeal. Its curious existence transcends time, appearing in every era after 12,000BC, and disappearing from all if it is destroyed. People of future years remark on its beauty, little knowing its true origin as a conduit for Lavos. Queen Zeal lives on inside, immortal thanks to the power of the Mammon Machine.
