- Machina
-
FFX's version of machinery. The ancient machina of a thousand years ago is seen in ruins all across Spira. It is commonly believed that the use of machina, making life so easy that the need for work was nonexistent, led to the appearance of Sin as punishment. The religious order of Yevon spurns the use of most machina that has survived to the present day, alienating the Yevonites from the technology-loving race of Al Bhed.
- Machinery
-
The worlds of Final Fantasy generally have advanced machinery, either from living in an industrialized age or recovered as artifacts from ancient civilizations. Airships, usually propeller-driven blimp-like vehicles, are the most prominent example. Sometimes the machinery serves as a symbol for corruption and power.

A battle command, used to cast spells on the character's turn. The spells themselves do not involve physical attacks or inventory items.
Spells used in battle, and sometimes outside it. Though not always called such, magic is typically divided into several categories: black magic, used for offense; white magic, primarily restorative; support magic, sometimes known as grey magic or time/space magic, used for beneficial or detrimental status changes; blue magic, spells learned from monsters that have a wide range of effects; and call magic, used for the summoning of powerful entities to aid in battle.
