However, she is a good-natured person who despises Zeal's plans and seeks a way to stop her. She maintains contact with the Earthbound Ones and risks her life to oppose her mother and save the party. Her pendant contains great power and may break the seals found across time.

Midgar is divided into sectors that once had individual names, but now are known only by their numbers. Sector 0 is the center of Midgar, containing the Shinra HQ. Sector 1, Sector 2, Sector 3, Sector 4, Sector 5, Sector 6, Sector 7, and Sector 8 radiate out from Sector 0 in shapes like the slices of a pie. In addition, Sectors 1-8 are divided into two worlds; those who can afford it live above on the plate, and the poorer eke out an existence in the slums beneath.

Seifer and Squall have matching scars after a training battle went out of hand. A show-off, he nevertheless managed to fail the SeeD exam many times due to his disrespect for authority. Hangs around with Fujin and Raijin, and together they patrol Balamb as the Disciplinary Committee. He later becomes Edea's right-hand man.
