Obsessed with the opera singer Maria, he joins the party after he is tricked into kidnapping Maria's lookalike Celes. The services of his airship are a great asset, and Setzer's Slot performs attacks in battle depending on the results of three spinning reels.

Tifa's bar in the Sector 7 slums. As well as providing much-needed alcohol to the local population, the hidden basement forms the headquarters for AVALANCHE.

A ninja for hire, he has long ago locked away his emotions. Caring only for money and his dog Interceptor, Shadow can be hired to help the party at various points in the game. If the party containing Shadow stays in an inn, one of several dream sequences will reveal some of Shadow's past, when he was a man named Clyde, partnered with a man named Baram. Shadow's ninja skills allow him to throw weapons and items in battle.

An item which can be thrown at the enemy party, damaging them with shadow magic.

A timid follower of Yevon who longs to complete her training and become a fully-fledged nun. She tries to spread the word throughout the world, particularly during Operation Mi'ihen, but her quiet nature means she is easily shouted down. Only her regular ego-boosts from Yuna seem to be keeping her going.

After the fall of Yevon, Shelinda decided to stop taking orders and start doing things for herself. She left for Luca, where she found a job as an interviewer for the sphere network. She still takes orders from her superiors, but at least she likes it.

A character or enemy under this status will take half damage from magic.
