The first Aeon Yuna acquires on her pilgrimage, from the temple in Besaid. Valefor is a bird-like summon with all four basic elemental black magics and the ability to fly. She also has two Overdrives in addition to a delay attack. Valefor's damage limit can be broken with Yuna's Nirvana.

A cool and stoic former Turk, once involved in Dr. Gast's Jenova Project. He fell in love with his colleague Lucrecia, but his feelings were not returned. When he discovered Hojo's dangerous plans to experiment on her unborn child, he tried to intervene but was stopped by the crazed scientist. Hojo then conducted experiments on Vincent as punishment, resulting in unstable mutation and the loss of his humanity. To atone for his inability to protect Lucrecia, he placed himself in suspended animation in a coffin beneath the Shinra mansion, confining himself with his nightmares. When awakened, he joins Cloud in search of Sephiroth.
