An accidental passenger in the Tantalus' escape from Alexandria with Garnet, Vivi is an uncertain young black mage whose first memory is being fished out of the sky by Quan, a Qu. His wish to know more about his roots is granted in a most horrific way, as he stumbles upon a production line of black mages similar to himself in the underground factory of Dali, and later witnesses black mages of the same type mindlessly following orders to destroy or conquer several cities. His newfound despair is only mitigated by his own hidden strength and the support of Zidane and the other party members. Vivi fights with a staff in battle, but he is more useful for his black magic. In Trance, his Blk Mag command changes to Dbl Blk, enabling him to use two spells per turn.
