I suppose you're wondering where last week's Arcadia update went, are you? Well, it was here all along. You just couldn't see it because it was Ninja Week. Honest.

Retrovolution
--Monday, January the 19th, 2009AD

What happens when a bunch of devs get all misty-eyed about the good old days of high scores and making money? They repackage older games for our entertainment! With that in mind, seven new (old) games are added to the database.
-Matthew

OK, so they're not all great or particularly classic or anything. But, y'know, Pac-Man rocks.

It all becomes clear now
--Monday, January the 12th, 2009AD

Hey, more Encyclopaedia this week? Seven new entries, you say? That's right. In addition to the manic land-grab of new systems to fill out, the plan is to deal with the backlog in a wonderfully gimmicky way by adding (on average) one new game every day of the year. Expect to see it failing soon.
-Matthew

SEXY
As long as it's blue
--Saturday, August the 23rd, 2008AD

Customisation is good. Very good. Where would we be without the ability to give our skimpy bikini fighters neon pink hair or our testosterone-chewing space marines some fetching green shoulder pads? If only the internet was so accommodating to our garish whims. OH WAIT. You can now browse Eternal Legend in any colour you fancy, as long as your browser is up to the task - be warned that not all are. To pick a new shade, visit the Preferonicator and give it a try. Is this the first website to come with 255 colour schemes?

FFXII
The Hunt Begins
--Tuesday, June the 17th, 2008AD

Could it be? An update? Why, I think it just might be. We're taking tentative steps with actually updating once in a while, and to begin with there's some delicious info on the FFXII Hunts. Things aren't running terribly smoothly at the moment thanks to the perils of a new computer system, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Pocket-Sized Update

New content is available!
--Sunday, April the 22nd, 2007AD

So the realtime script idea sort of fell over when I realised it helps to know the future in order to describe the past. Still, the FFXII data harvest continues with an Items section. More info will leak into those tables over time.

Want some FFXII player characters? Well, you've got them. Sorry about the quality of the pictures there, but XII isn't being friendly when it comes to bringing the sexy pixels. Don't look at the Fran one for too long either; you wouldn't like her when she's angry.

FFXII
Live!
--Monday, February the 26th, 2007AD

For years now, I've played the Final Fantasies to death and then started writing about them. Now things are going to be a little different, because FFXII is out and the section is open. That's right; it'll be updating live, with content appearing as I gather it. So it's going to be woefully incomplete, but it'll have to be at least useful before I'm allowed to finish the game. Without further ado: Page 1 of the XII Script.

NOTE
Introducing Eternal Legend Diamond
--Saturday, April the 1st, 2006AD

We are always trying to improve EL and bring you nifty coverage of some of your favourite games, and that is why we have been working on a new system of site management. We call it Eternal Legend Diamond. For a small monthly fee registered users will have access to a range of content including movies, hi-res screenshots, and game scripts, and will get to browse without ads. Other parts of the site will remain open to unregistered users, albeit with some embedded advertising which will help keep Eternal Legend online.

Now, there may be a few teething troubles with the new system and we're still trying to work out the balance between free and Diamond-exclusive content, so please bear with us during this transitionary time.

Look forward to seeing you in the Diamond Square!

By the way, happy April Fool's Day.

FFIX
Bobby Corwen lives!
--Wednesday, October the 20th, 2004AD

So, the world is on the brink of destruction at the hands of a crazed lunatic, monsters are terrorising the populace, and the entire planet is covered in a thick blanket of mist. And what do we do? We forget about it. For ages. So, the FFIX Script moves on into disc 4.

Recent FFIX data gathering has resulted in an improved Chocobo guide and the start of an updated Equipment section. There's lots of new Monster data too, but that's yet to be added. Sorry.

FFX
Has it really been a month?
--Saturday, August the 28th, 2004AD

Apparently it has. Things have been uber-busy offline, and so Eternal Legend has had to slow down a little. So, just as proof that we're not completely dead, check out the new and improved FFX Player Characters section. Now with added .wavs!
-Matthew

FFX-2
Oh no! I think my head's on backwards!
--Wednesday, July the 28th, 2004AD

Yet more Battle Quotes for your perusal.
-Matthew

FFX-2
Crouching tiger, hidden Rikku
--Tuesday, July the 27th, 2004AD

Just a little update this time, adding a batch to the FFX-2 Battle Quotes. Would anyone be interested in some sound files to go along with them?
-Matthew

FFX
This isn't a vacation
--Wednesday, July the 21st, 2004AD

Sorry for the apparent death; the switch to the new server has given me opportunity to clean up a bit and sort out our oldest pages. This task is taking much longer than I anticipated, and has been one of the main focuses of my attention for the past couple of weeks. But, other work is still going on in the meantime. Witness, for example, the updated FFX Script in which the summoner party finally gets around to leaving Besaid.

Eternal Legend is switching hosts, and so access may be screwy at the best of times. All interactive features (poll, forum, etc) are being taken down until the migration is complete.

Update: The move is pretty much finished now, with just a few parts left to check over and upload. Apologies for any inconvenience, and please let us know if you notice any problems.

The gitaroo is mine! Can I eat it?
--Sunday, July the 4th, 2004AD

The most visually stunning - in the true sense of the word, "to stun" - game in the history of rhythm, with a kicking soundtrack to beat, and it sold five copies worldwide. It could only be Gitaroo Man. Yo.

ARCADIA
Under the wire
--Wednesday, June the 30th, 2004AD

I had hoped to sneak in an extra update this month, but it was taking longer than expected and it was not to be. It will just have to wait until later this week, I'm afraid. To compensate, there are now 270 games in the Encyclopaedia, mainly dealing with the twin joys of Sonic and Zelda. A crossover game is long overdue...

The ritual must continue
--Thursday, June the 3rd, 2004AD

After one of the busiest months of my tiny little life, it's good to finally get back to some proper updating. It's NEW GAME time, with the opening of the Project Zero II Files database and the (very) early preview of the Walkthrough. Why not celebrate by staging your own ritual mutilation?

GAMES
You know I can't swing about like you.
--Tuesday, May the 12th, 2004AD

You know that bit in that film where they run up the wall? Wouldn't it be cool if you could do that? And if you had a sword to chop things up as you somersaulted off, and then backflip over something else and swing off it and... sorry, I got carried away. It's easily done when talking about Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Why does nobody like the blue mage?
--Thursday, April the 22nd, 2004AD

It's a real mystery. Your blue mage often comes with a huge array of cool magic, and no one ever uses it. Fools. See the FFVII Enemy Skill Materia for just a few excellent abilities. Lots of other little updates in the Materia section, too. More to come, etc.

Polly
--Friday, March the 12th, 2004AD

During a recent bit of routine cleaning, I noticed that the Poll was refusing to accept any votes. As luck would have it, it had broken down just a few hours before I checked up on it, so nothing was really lost. Anyway, back to the story. I eventually discovered the problem: It had simply received too many votes and couldn't cope with any more. So, after a little fixing, I rewrote the engine and added some groovy new options to the results page. Enjoy.

Email update
--Monday, February the 16th, 2004AD

Email should now be working again, and all should be well with the world. If you have sent anything at all in the past fortnight, I'm afraid it didn't get through - even if it didn't "bounce." So to be on the safe side, send it again, and this time it should work.

Changes, both minor and major
--Friday, February the 13th, 2004AD

First, a relatively major change. Our email here will be behaving oddly over the next few days while we migrate servers, and so it's best to consider it out of action for this period. If you have sent email over the past week, say, then there is also the chance that it didn't get through. If you want to get in contact, either use the Forum or wait a few days for the migration to complete. Sorry for any inconvenience.
-Matthew

There have been a few small modifications to the underlying code powering Eternal Legend. They should result in having no noticable effect whatsoever, and everything should appear as normal. Indeed, everything we've tested seems to work, but it's possible that a few pages have slipped through the net. So, if you notice any odd rendering, or strange menu behaviour, please let us know so we can fix it.

I detest Internet Explorer
--Wednesday, February the 11th, 2004AD

The would-be SeeDs finally get to finish their training mission and return to Balamb. The new Script was supposed to be in a beautiful HTML format that made everything so simple to read and to write, but Internet Explorer, the bane of standards worldwide, didn't like it. Why should we be forced to "fix" valid code in order to get it to display in one of the worst browsers ever made? WHY? I hate Internet Explorer, and so should you.

And, in the purple leather, brandishing the whip...
--Saturday, January the 31th, 2004AD

There won't be a Soul Calibur 2 character next week, I'm afraid, so you'll have to make do with Ms. Valentine instead. She's a little bit crazy, a little bit kinky, and very British. I'm sure some of that was redundant.

Just kidding
--Monday, January the 19th, 2004AD

I seem to have taken the Ancient Library as my pet project, as Matthew has his Encyclopaedia. We're past 2500 entries now. I can't claim that as all of my hard work, though. We cheated a bit and used scripts to add monsters from various and sundry sections. However, it's still an impressive number, and worthy of posting an update about.

MISC
Where am I?
--Wednesday, October the 29th, 2003AD

You may have noticed a slight dip in updates recently. This is primarily down to my own lack of time in which to do any site work; I've been busily investigating the wonderful world of artificial intelligence, and site time has been spent Dark Chronicling about. Ayako has been steadily updating the Library in my absence, however, and a whole bunch of DC information is waiting to be uploaded, and work is continuing on pretty much everything else.

As part of a new resolution to actually start mentioning our updates, there's a new review in the Encyclopaedia. Also, we're starting to gather shots of the FFX weaponry. If anyone out there knows any good routines to secure better shots of the equipment, please drop us a line.

The problem with updates
--Wednesday, August the 20th, 2003AD

We have quite a few sections now, which means that new ones are few and far between. Instead, we end up spending most of our update time adding a steady trickle of new info to the ones we already have, and don't consider it worth writing updates about. However, we are constantly adding new information as and when, so don't think we're just sitting around playing Sim City 4 or anything. No. If you don't believe me, look at the FFIX Equipment, which has been growing over the past few days and is now on the verge of completion. Woot.

Yes, the Forum again
--Saturday, March the 22nd, 2003AD

We just can't stop messing with the Forum. Forgive us. It's a fun toy. It now matches the rest of the site, menu-wise, made to order with the new look. A few things have also been nudged in the style templates to make the colors more consistent throughout.

Submission alert
--Friday, March the 21st, 2003AD

Wow. It turns out people actually read the less famous parts of the site. Not only that, but some even submit stuff. If you want proof, head over to the Cosplay and see for yourself.
-Matthew

And for budding Rikkus out there, there's a new Equipment Customiser to let you check out your combos.

Tidus, you will go on my first whistle
--Wednesday, March the 19th, 2003AD

Content alert! After much pencil-chewing, (most of) the mysteries of FFX's CTB system have been worked out and documented for your perusing pleasure. Be warned, some mental arithmetic lies therein.
-Matthew

In slightly-less-exciting-but-still-interesting news, there's a new Site Guide to help you find your way around the less obvious parts of Eternal Legend. Have fun exploring, now.

Shiny and sparkly and gone
--Wednesday, March the 12th, 2003AD

The Great Spring Clean is finally complete! Every single part of Eternal Legend should now sparkle like new, and all but one of the features from Tubbaware have been deleted. Please, please let us know if you see any broken images, rogue pages without backgrounds, or (shudder) a HitBox button.

Sticky sugar-coated information
--Monday, March the 3rd, 2003AD

The Ancient Library slowly grows as we continue to add new entries. Just recently done are most of Final Fantasy IX's locations and all of the aeons from Final Fantasy X.
-Ayako

Update, March 7th: From Final Fantasy VII, all the player characters and a slew of non-player characters have been added.

--Friday, February the 21st, 2003AD

Yes, it's an update! No actual content; however, now in the Forum we have avatars. Go into your profile and choose a gender and traditional Final Fantasy class, and a little sprite will appear next to your posts and in your profile. Go on, they took me hours. They're cute, I promise you.
-Ayako

Yes, they are definitely cute. I can vouch for that.
-Matthew

I think you're making me lose credibility, here. I know I'm new to this writing for the website thing, but the fans should learn to trust me when I say something's cute. They shouldn't need to turn to you for reassurance. I mean, really.
-Ayako

Oh, and thanks for the compliment, by the way.
-Ayako

Sorry. I'll be good.

We're not entirely asleep
--Wednesday, February the 5th, 2003AD

Besides working behind the scenes on new layout ideas, the Final Fantasy VII Script has had a couple of chapters added. The characters try out their sea legs as they encounter mysterious happenings as stowaways on a cargo ship bound for balmy Costa del Sol.

Tubbaware Outofaction
--Wednesday, January the 8th, 2003AD

I really wasn't happy with much of Tubbaware's content, so it was with a heavy heart that I pushed the Big Red Button and sent most of it to the bit bucket in the sky. Some still remains, and the rest will be rewritten at some point in the near future, so this is not goodbye. It's just tearing the page from the scrapbook and starting again.

Hit it with a brick
--Tuesday, December the 31th, 2002AD

We would like to end the year with a bang, but unfortunately we can't. There is a new list of Final Fantasy X Monsters and some Final Fantasy IX to peruse, which should tide you over for a while and increase the height of our menu bar.

Spanky
--Saturday, December the 21st, 2002AD

Change is good. The Great Spring (winter) Clean rages through Eternal Legend like an unstoppable simile, bringing with it a subtle new design and a few minor announcements. First off, we are realising the HTML dream of separating form and content; this basically means that the layout is handled entirely in CSS instead of using tables. It seems to work out in our test browsers, but please let us know if pages appear odd or even unusable to you.
-Matthew

Second, the main index and this news page will now incorporate updates for both Eternal Legend and Tubbaware Interactive. Hardly a life-changing difference, I know, but I just thought I'd warn you.

Double the writing
--Tuesday, December the 17th, 2002AD

After a rather nasty letter from the UN, our long-suffering proofreader Ayako Kiyomizu has been released from her box and promoted to staff writer. That means (potentially) more stuff for you and the sweet embraces of sunlight and oxygen for her. Now I can finally use "we" in the collective rather than royal sense when writing these updates.
