Eternal Legend - Project Zero - Walkthrough

Calamity

Miku experiences more nightmarish flashes of the Strangling Ritual being performed by the masked priests from the blinding room. Something about the ritual appears to go wrong, and in further flashes the mansion is strewn with dead bodies. Tortured corpses litter the pathways, and the vision ends with views of four monuments.

She awakens in the Demon Mouth, with ropes briefly binding her ankles. The ground trembles periodically, more violently than before.

Mafuyu... I'm sure he went through that door.

After climbing to the top for a moment to collect Type-14 film, she passes through the doorway in search of her brother.

Banned Path

Munakata (3000pts) lies in his resting place, surrounded by Kirie's arms. As Miku ventures down the crumbled tunnel, she is ambushed by three of the People Killed in the disaster. Although individually weak, this is the first time she has encountered multiple ghosts simultaneously and they have a tendency to stay together.

Herbal medicine and a spirit stone lie further along, before the tunnel ends in a rockfall. Through a small crack, she catches a glimpse of her brother. A scroll on the Calamity lies at her feet:

In the year 1837, on the 13th day of the 12th month-- The Strangling Ritual failed and caused the Calamity. Malice escaped, and 1347 souls were lost.

Returning to the door, Miku encounters the young Kirie once more. She points out another of Munakata's documents, and vanishes. The documents state that the Moon Shrine in the atrium enshrines the maidens sacrificed in the rituals. A well inside channels the moonlight on the night of the ritual, and the Rope Shrine Maiden purifies her body at the bottom. There must therefore be a path to the basement there.

Corridor

Half way along, Miku is assaulted by a misty apparition vaguely resembling a Floating Face. Although slow and weak, the faint smokey ball spends nearly all of its time invisible and so is difficult to keep track of.

Rubble Room

The door to the burial room is sealed by a talisman, and a photograph develops into an image of two planks of wood among a pile of rubble. Near the centre of the room, the Crushed Woman (1000pts) will unlock it.

Burial Room

On the way to the atrium, the Himuro family master appears to lead the way, so follow the Man in Atrium. First, though, collect the herbal medicine from the corner of the room.

Cherry-Atrium

The door to the Moon Shrine is locked by a Himuro crest. The missing stone appears to be held on a large altar of some sort, similar to that found in the Buddha room. This is accessible via the Stairway to the east, but first Miku may find the spirit of Yae (3000pts) hanging from the cherry tree. The Himuro family master makes another appearance as TurningMaskMan leading you eastward.

Stairway

It may be worthwhile to take a small detour to the second floor of the mansion before reaching the Buddha room. A spirit stone and herbal medicine may be found in the tatami room and observatory, respectively.

Buddha Room

This is where the Himuro family master has been leading Miku, in preparation for some sort of ceremony. A low chanting voice may be heard, which increases in volume as she approaches the altar in the photo. There she finds four Ceremonial-Rope and a document on how to perform the Binding Ritual:

Show the maiden no mercy. Cast the rope on her limbs from right arm, then the other. From the right foot, then the other.

The large Buddha statues have stakes at their base, on which the ropes can be tied. As Miku attaches the ropes in the order specified in the document, the statues' necks also become tied and begin to bleed. Once all four ropes are tied, the altar door opens to reveal the Teal Carving for the Moon Shrine door.

The sliding door opens, and a terrified priest enters, fleeing for his life. The Himuro family master, still wearing the Mask of Reflection in the form of a demon, follows him with his sword drawn. He cuts the priest down, and stands over his wounded prey before bringing the sword down with full force on his neck. Looking up, he sees Miku.

Die.

Family Master is very tough, frequently phasing to the side and disappearing from view. He also bears his sword which he uses to attack from a distance. Floating around him are four disembodied heads which he may send towards Miku to hold her down for his attack. Zero shots are difficult here, with the capture circle glowing amber for only the briefest amount of time. The Paralyze auxilliary function is a lifesaver.

Once he is destroyed, the doors will be unsealed and Miku is free to return to the atrium.

Moon Shrine

If there is a well in here, it's covered by an unusual cabinet. On each side is a panel with four characters, but they appear to be locked somehow. Munakata's research documents tell that the cabinet opens up "when a certain routine has been performed." All he has to go on is a vague description of the device:

Acquire the symbols from the four rope-pullers, and show the Himuro family master's seal.

Photographs of each of the four panels develop into different monuments and gravestones, reflecting the resting places of the four priests. One of the monuments is just outside...

Cherry-Atrium

As Miku approaches the gravestone, she hears the mysterious chanting of the priest buried there. The HeadlessPriest is run through with swords, and is under the impression that Miku is a shrine maiden. He is slow, but has a few special tricks up his sleeve. When he loses his head, he will drift towards Miku under complete invulnerability, and will not trigger the camera's power. From time to time he will perform a little ritual and send out a homing spirit which must be avoided until is dissipates. Capturing him during the ritual will interrupt it and count as a zero shot. The final photo will develop into one of the familiar sanskrit characters.

Priest's Writings 1 left behind after his death tells of his concerns about Kirie after she sighted a man outside her window.

Abyss

Hirasaka (3000pts) is now a victim of the mansion just like Munakata and his wife. Her spirit is trapped at the waterwheel. The HeadlessPriest at the burial mound is tougher than the last, spending the majority of the time headless and invulnerable. Keep him in your sights until he is practically upon Miku and he will drop his guard at the last second, being stunned for long enough to make your escape. While not headless, he will move quickly from side to side as he advances. It is difficult to build up camera charge while he is acting like this, so follow him and snap whenever the moment arises.

His writings describe how they "hid" the man that Kirie was beginning to fall for. They had to carry the body far away.

Fish-TankRoom

The moment Miku enters the room on the way to the back yard, LongHair Woman seals the door and attacks. The platforms obstruct Miku's motion but not her own, making this battle more difficult than the previous encounter with her. Once disposed of, take the Type-37 film and unlock the door to the back yard with the code 1347, the number of souls lost during the Calamity.

Backyard

As Miku passes the well, the third HeadlessPriest emerges from his grave.

The ritual has failed...

Reflexes are the key to this battle. He can become invulnerable just like the others, but he doesn't rely on this as much. He regularly employs homing spirits, and can only be stopped during a brief zero shot. He also frequently leaps towards Miku at high speed, and must be halted by quick reflexes.

His writings reveal that Kirie found out what they did to the guest, and has fallen into depression. She is becoming too tied to the world...

Narukami-Shrine

Takamine (3000pts) may be found in his "resting" place on the ceiling of the shrine, and a roll of specially-sanctified Type-90 Film lies to the left of the entrance.

Sq.Garden

The fourth and final HeadlessPriest lies buried here at the large stone monument. Be sure to save using the nearby camera first, as he has a lot of HP and his grab attack can nearly kill Miku in one go. He sways from side to side like the priest from the abyss, but doesn't spend as long invulnerable. His unique, but fortunately weak, attack is to sink into the floor and grab Miku's ankles from behind.

His writings are from after the failed ritual. The mansion is now filled with the Malice, which has driven the Himuro family master insane. The only way to prevent further tragedy is to close the gate before it opens completely.

Before returning to the Moon Shrine, take a detour through the lamp hallway to find the Blind Demon (3000pts) and Type-74 film in the blinding ritual room. Ogata (3000pts) may be found in the closet in the library, and a spare spirit stone now occupies the corner of the kimono room.

Miku may encounter a Wandering Monk as she explores the mansion. These ghosts are strong, and best avoided.

Moon Shrine

The cabinet can be unlocked by pressing the correct buttons on either side. The left side refers to the priest from the atrium (4th symbol), the back the abyss (3rd), the right the backyard (2nd), and the front the square garden (1st). Each priest developed into one of the characters in their final photo.

Once all four buttons have been pressed, the front of the cabinet rises up to reveal a gap for the Himuro master crest. A photograph reveals blood leaking out into the atrium. A newly-formed blood trail leads through the west wing of the mansion to the grand hall.

Grand Hall

Miku notices a large pool of blood occupying the centre of the room, initiating another battle with the Family Master. This fight is made more difficult by the partitions which can obstruct your view, and he has a new powerful attack. He will crouch down for a moment before launching himself towards Miku at very high speed. Once defeated, he will drop the Master's Seal.

Afterwards, the spirit of the Family Master (3000pts) can be found on the raised altar-like-object. Type-74 film and sacred water lie near the door to the rope hallway. In there is a spirit stone, and some Type-37 film waits in the entrance hall. Returning to the Moon Shrine and inserting the seal reveals the moon well, into which Miku tentatively climbs.

Moon Well

There's a save camera down here for some reason, in front of the gruesome bound remains of the original Rope Shrine Maiden. Miku takes the third Mirror/Piece from its base, and is again disturbed by a presence. She turns quickly to see the reflection of Kirie in the puddle of water, but no sign of her above ground. She begins to rise through the floor out of her own reflection, the tormented demons springing to life on her back. Miku makes a dash for it towards the ladder, frantically climbing out of the well as Kirie gives chase. (Ring, anyone?)

Miku's foot slips.

She is saved at the last second by the young Kirie extending her arm to her from the top of the well. As she grasps her hand, Miku sees clearer visions of Kirie being torn to pieces by the priests, and the family master holding aloft the sacrificial ropes.

Please... Please make it stop. Stop me!
