Himuro
September 24th, 1986
We join Mafuyu as he approaches Himuro mansion in search of his mentor, Junsei Takamine. The derelict building echoes with eerie wailing, which can't be simply the wind.
I wonder if their party is still here...?
Entrance
Behind the lattice fence to his left is a mysterious something, human-sized, wrapped in a cloth. Take a picture here to see Child Behind (500pts).
Venture up the steps to where a beam has collapsed through the roof, breaking a hole in the floor. In the one corner is some Type-14 Film, and in another is a save point. Not that you've much progress to save so far. Head west through the door.
Rope Hallway
This long hallway is scattered with ropes hanging from the ceiling, and the walls are strangely damaged. Ignore those for now and quickly whip out your camera to snap the RopeHallwayMan walking past the mirror at the other end. Follow him into the next room.
Fireplace
Admire the antiques and the recently-used sunken fireplace, and prepare for another quick shot of the ManLookingDown from the balcony just after you pass.
Among the bookshelves in the little nook is another free photo of an Angry Man's face (500pts). The nearby stairs have collapsed, so use the other flight to reach the second floor. Here lies Takamine's notebook on the floor, which reveals a cutscene and a taste of things to come.
Rope Hallway
Takamine and his party creep through the rope hallway, unaware of the swarm of hands gaining on them. At the last moment Junsei turns... to see just an empty hall. As he walks away, we see the hands reflected in the large mirror, surrounding a strange woman who appears to control them.
Mafuyu hears the creak of a floorboard from the lower level, and turns to look. The footsteps of an unseen stalker slowly mount the stairs. Mafuyu reaches for his camera to see what his eyes cannot, and is faced with his first enemy, the Bound Man. Hold the ghost in your viewfinder to build up spirit level (shown at the bottom) and take photos to damage it. Waiting until it is right upon him and then snapping a good headshot yields major damage and a healthy points bonus.

The door here is thoroughly locked, so return downstairs to see another spirit which I have yet to snapshot. The door to the rope hallway is now open. Ignore this omen and proceed through it. Try not to be alarmed when it closes behind you.
Rope Hallway
The other door is boarded up, so head down it to spook Mafuyu out and end his quest.
