Eternal Legend - Project Zero II - Walkthrough
Project Zero II Walkthrough
Abstract

Mayu is close now, somewhere within the as yet unexplored Kiryu House. Unfortunately, she found her way in through a locked door on the second floor. Mio must head through the house from the other end, disturbing the spirits therein and uncovering the Kiryu's macabre tale. Hostile spirits are low, but very troublesome when they do appear. Other spirits are just as camera-shy, so be on your guard. Also keep your eyes peeled for the Best Spirit Ever.

Kiryu House, 1F Entrance
Spirit Alert: Dazed Girl, Dazed Doll

Personal best: 1164pts

Immediately on starting the chapter, you are presented with a photo opportunity. There is no need to move, or to panic. Just draw out the camera and aim to the right at the tattered screen before the next wall. The two spirits will shortly appear in there, sitting quietly, and hanging around for long enough to take shots of each. However, you must get them both in the same picture in order for both to register in the spirit list.

As with the Kurosawa house before, the door is sealed behind you and there is nowhere to go but onwards. The walls of the Kiryu house echo with the whispers of its spirits, so be warned.

Kiryu House, 1F Hanging Doll Room

A number of dolls hang from the ceiling in this unsettling place. One has fallen from its noose.

Spirit Alert: Fleeing Twin, Fleeing Doll

Personal best: 1864pts

As Mio reaches the middle of the room, the twin spirits appear again, running to the far door. Time is tighter here, and it may be tricky to get the two in the shot at first. Don't be afraid to reload from the end of chapter five if you miss.

Take the Herbal Medicine and Type-14 Film from the drawers, and move on.

Kiryu House, 1F Tatami Room-Hallway
Spirit Alert: Vanishing Twin, Vanishing Doll

Personal best: 1563pts

Once again, the twin spirits appear a few steps in, fleeing towards the end of the hall. The tighter environment makes this shot much easier, but remember to be sure to see both core circles in the frame before shooting.

The place is a barely-navigable mess, with many of the doors either locked or warped beyond repair. The regular tatami room just to the right contains some glowing Type-61 Film, and the deluxe tatami room to the north has Herbal Medicine, but other than that there is little here. Head to the room to the northeast.

Kiryu House, 1F Twins' Room

The twins' room has managed to escape whatever horror befell the rest of the house, and is in remarkably good shape. Take note of the cushions in front of the covered mirrors, and particular note of the Type-90 Film in the drawer on the other side of the room.

Spirit Alert: Sitting Twin, Sitting Doll

Personal best: 1195pts

As you try to leave the room, the twins appear yet again, on the cushions behind Mio. Turn and snap them both at once, but be quick as they don't stay for as long as they did in the hanging doll room.

When they disappear, they leave behind the chillingly enigmatic Violet Diary 2, and a Blue Crystal for the radio. Now prepare for an encounter, and leave the room.

Kiryu House, 1F Hallway of Contrasts

As Mio enters the hallway, she becomes aware of a watching presence and turns to see one of the twins standing silently just a few yards away. A creaking floorboard announces the appearance of the other twin at the other end of the hall. They begin to advance.

Hostile Spirit Alert: Twin's Spirit, Twin's Doll

First, some good news. You only need to defeat the Spirit, and she has little HP. With Type-14 film, it should take only two or three Zero shots or a similar amount of safeties. Using higher-grade film is not advised...

...as the Doll is completely invulnerable. The two spirits look identical, and have the same attack pattern, but only one will take damage. You will find out which is in your sights only when you press the shutter. They rarely appear together, so it's a 50/50 thing. On top of that, while you're focusing on the one you can easily be hit by the other. If you are lucky enough to see both twins in the same frame, take every advantage of it and go for a close-up double zero Blast for plenty of damage.

First, be on the move. The hallway doesn't make life easy in the slightest, and it's much better to flee than to try a quick shot as a spirit emerges from a wall. If you want a zero shot, you will need to wait until your attacker is practically upon you, giving the other plenty of opportunity to get an attack in first. Remember to aim down if you're waiting for a close-up, as the tiny Kiryus will dip under the radar otherwise.

If you are eager to save after all these spirits, the room at the western end of the hallway has a lantern for your use.

Behind the billowing curtain lies Film Reel 4 and the Best Spirit Ever.

Spirit Alert: Peeping Child

Personal best: 4799pts (yes, really)

Stand behind the curtain and note the small barred window. Take a breath, pull out the camera, and look outside.

The door at the eastern end of the hall leads to the projector room, and is worth unlocking even if you don't intend to go there. The other door is much more interesting.

Kiryu House, 1F Doll Room

Among the many eerie dolls surrounding the room is the Doll Maker Note 3. The large dolls at the back of the room should look familiar, but one is missing vital parts. Take a picture to be shown a Family Altar. If you have been exploring, you may have seen this already in the room off the tatami hallway. Head back into the Hallway of Contrasts and all the way to the far end.

Kiryu House, 1F Staircase-Hallway

Save at the lantern if you so desire. Taking this route unlocks the door, making navigation through the house much easier.

Kiryu House, 1F Tatami Room-Hallway

The door you want is immediately on the right at the first T-junction.

Kiryu House, 1F Family Altar Room

On entering the room, first note the filament.

Spirit Alert: Hidden Man

Personal best: 0pts

Confused? Head to the far corner of the room and look at the wall with the camera to see a small hole into the next room. Inside is Yoshitatsu Kiryu, the twins' father. Take his picture for the spirit list, though it is worth no points. Watch if you want as he unlocks the door.

The altar itself contains Violet Diary 1. Herbal Medicine may be found in a drawer in the corner of the room. Return to the hallway to gain access to the dollmaker's room.

Kiryu House, 1F Sealed Room

Doll pieces are stored all over the place here, but they are nothing to fear. Examine the first pile for some Type-14 Film, and then check the table for Doll Maker Note 4 and the accompanying Dolomite.

Spirit Alert: Doomed Girl

Personal best: 839pts

Azami appears right next to Mio. Capture is not a problem, as auto-aim does most of the work.

Kill me...

The challenge now is to find the missing doll pieces, using the spirit of Azami as a guide. You may see her sometimes, standing motionless, with no reaction from the filament. Stay calm.

Kiryu House, 1F Hallway of Contrasts

One piece of the doll can be found in the storeroom closest to the save lantern.

Spirit Alert: Azami Kiryu

Personal best: 1919pts

Azami is only visible through the viewfinder, and will not disappear over time. Simply take her picture to be awarded the Doll's Head and Dollmaker Note 1.

Now is finally the time to head upstairs.

Kiryu House, 2F Staircase-Hallway
Bound Spirit Alert: Pinned Down

1000pts

Examine the rubble-strewn hallway leading to the south to find this poor soul trapped there.

Kiryu House, 2F Raised Tatami Room

This is probably the scariest room ever. I shall provide no more information here other than the usual walkthrough stuff. Look around for some Sacred Water and (it has been too long) a Spirit Orb.

Bound Spirit Alert: Shivering Woman

1000pts

No description is necessary here, really.

Kiryu House, 2F Stairway Room
Bound Spirit Alert: Corner Woman

1000pts

Yes, another bound spirit. After rounding the first corner, look into the barred room (which can't be entered) to find Corner Woman staring longingly at the door.

The nearby lantern will probably be darkened, but don't panic. It's a good thing:

Spirit Alert: Azami Kiryu

Personal best: 1839pts

Azami appears again in the nearby storeroom. Mio acquires the Doll's Right Arm and Dollmaker Note 2 on taking her picture.

Unlock the door to the east to gain access to the sliding screen room from previous chapters.

Kiryu House, Sliding Screen Room
Spirit Alert: Azami Kiryu

Personal best: 1839pts

The filament will be triggered from quite some distance away, but don't spend too long looking for Azami. She is downstairs in the storeroom next to the exit. The Doll's Left Arm comes with the concluding part of Violet Diary 3.

Now that you have all the pieces, head back to the doll room through the projector room and rebuild the doll.

Nothing happens, so head back to the dollmaker's room for more information.

Kiryu House, 1F Sealed Room

The blackened corner of the room now triggers a reaction in the filament, so take its picture to see Facing Twins, and find Design Plans and Charred Notes.

Kiryu House, 1F Tatami Room-Hallway

On leaving the room, a strange sound alerts Mio to the once sealed door to the right. If you've been paying attention, you know what to expect.

Kiryu House, 1F Hanging Doll Room
Hostile Spirit Alert: Doll Maker

Yoshitatsu isn't really that difficult, but he will take a while to exorcise. Much of the time, he will appear a short distance away and stand still, doing nothing, before fading again. Taking his picture at this point will do miniscule damage, but every little helps. Rarely - very rarely - will he break into an actual charge attack which results in a fatal frame. Of course, waiting for this moment runs the risk of having him simply fade away instead.

The rest of the time, usually if he has appeared behind a wall or you have otherwise decided not to look for him, he will call upon the dolls to do his bidding. This summons a doll and causes it to speed around Mio's head in a wide circle, eventually diving in for a weak but irritating attack. The dolls can't be harmed, and can only be stopped by catching their master in a zero shot as he performs another summoning ritual.

Wear him down, try not to be distracted by the dolls, and you can win without taking damage.

He leaves behind the Glass Eyes and Doll Maker Note 5. Also on the ground is the very useful Switch Function and a Spirit Orb. You are now finally ready to complete the doll and reach the Tachibana house, so head to the doll room.

Kiryu House, 1F Doll Room

Insert the eyes, and the device behind the twin dolls will activate. The goal is to have the twins face each other by pressing the two buttons to rotate their bases.

Solution: Left button four times, right button once.

Hostile Spirit Alert: Twin's Spirit, Twin's Doll

This will probably be the third time or more that you have faced the Kiryu twins, and fortunately nothing has changed for this encounter. The size of the room means they are easier to spot, but as a consequence they will tend to teleport from side to side more often. Every shot counts here, as half of them will have no effect, so panic is (almost) your worst enemy. Be warned that they will first appear in the place of the dolls, so turn and run fast.

They leave behind a Pale Purple Crystal. More importantly, the mechanism at the back of the room opens up to reveal a ladder.

Below Kiryu, A Passageway

First, turn to the right to find a Dimly Glowing Crystal among the rubble. Use the viewfinder to look for it if you're having trouble. Then, move on to end the chapter.

Are you leaving me again?

Mio turns to see the blood-drenched Sae laughing maniacally at the other end of the passage. Repeating her question, she begins to approach. Mio hastily pulls out the camera, looking through the lens to see... rubble. She panics, looking around for the spirit as her laughter gets louder. She puts the camera away to find Sae right before her face, enjoying every minute. Mio turns and flees, dropping the camera in the process.
