Eternal Legend - Project Zero II - Walkthrough
Project Zero II Walkthrough
Abstract

The village is on high alert now, and the ritual is beginning up on Misono Hill. However, leaving will not be easy - Itsuki's path from the Kureha Shrine is sealed and the keys distributed between the families. Thus, with Mayu's health deteriorating, Mio has to retrace her steps and revisit the households... and their occupants.

All God's Village, Kiryu House Front

The ritual... it's beginning... Hurry, we need to get to the Old Tree...

The way out of the village is in sight at last, and there it no time to lose. Take Mayu to the west, to the old tree near the Kureha shrine. There are some bound spirits you can take a short detour for, if you so wish. If you'd rather get Mayu to safety first, they will be available for the rest of the chapter.

All God's Village, Kiryu-Tachibana
Bound Spirit Alert: Jumping Woman

1000pts

Heading down the steps towards Whisper Bridge, turn back and look up at the connecting corridor.

All God's Village, Whisper Bridge
Bound Spirit Alert: Ossobuco

1000pts

Turn left just after reaching the bridge, and head down a little hard-to-see path. Turn back to look underneath the bridge and find Ossobuco looking back up at you.

All God's Village, The Old Tree

The filament glows as you approach, signalling that the hole in the tree is held by a bound spirit. Take a photo, and it develops into an image of a nearby altar.

All God's Village, Kureha Shrine Path
Spirit Alert: Man at Shrine

Personal best: 1049pts

At you reach the top of the steps, a small scene unfolds showing Makimura at the doorway. Take his picture if you failed to spot him in the earlier chapter.

All God's Village, Kureha Shrine

The filament glows gently as soon as Mio sets foot in the room, and the spirit warp is visible through the camera lens. Also visible is Folklorist's Note 7.

Hostile Spirit Alert: Veiled Priest

An ambush? Never. The reasonably open environment here, with its lattice walls, means that it is much easier to keep the Priest in sight. Mayu also works as a handy lure, attracting him and provoking his Fatal Frame moment.

He leaves behind a Glowing Yellow Crystal and another Spirit Orb. Take a photo of the altar to dispel the tree spirit. The village escape route at the back of the shrine is firmly sealed, sadly.

All God's Village, Fork in Road
Hostile Spirit Alert: Veiled Priest

Running is an option here, provided Mayu cooperates. Beware of his souls attack, which he seems to favour more in this open area.

All God's Village, The Old Tree

This tree is so big that its roots span a roomy hollow. Countless tiny graves and crimson pinwheels surround the cave. With a bump, Mayu collapses on the floor, her eyes briefly turning a painfully bloodshot red.

Just... let me rest...

Bound Spirit Alert: Fallen Mayu

0pts

Folklorist's Note 12 lies at the junction between the two entrances. Examine the altar to find another pinwheel locking mechanism, only this one is missing its rotating crests. The Octagon Key falls out from underneath, and you can take a quick shot of the lock to see it completed.

This enables another spirit photo, this time of Mayu to find the Storehouse Woman. You have your next target, but Mayu will have to wait here. Check on her first to make sure she's OK.

Touching her shoulder triggers another of Mio's visions, this time of a sacrificial room deep underground. She follows the long rock cavern to arrive in an enormous hall. The Kusabi stands before a large pit.

Where is my sister?

He points down. She cautiously approaches the hole, and is just about to peer over the edge when the vision snaps.

The delirious Mayu mumbles clues as to the whereabouts of the remaining crests, but you don't need her to tell you. Take the left hand exit back to the Kureha path, and towards Osaka. Save outside Kiryu if necessary, as an unusual spirit is about to appear.

All God's Village, Osaka House, Front
Spirit Alert: Storehouse Bound

Personal best: 265pts

Stick to the main path and Sae will soon appear at the Osaka junction, heading slowly east to see Itsuki. The shot is easy, but the points are small.

Spirit Alert: Roaming Doll

Personal best: 1759pts

She may be found in the run-down house opposite Osaka, though the filament will not react at all. Aim into the house from the north as you reach its doorway, and look inside to find a disembodied pair of legs walking (quickly) to the west. You may need to run left to catch her before she disappears.

All God's Village, Storehouse, Front

Save and enter Itsuki's storehouse, available now that you have the Octagon Key.

All God's Village, Storehouse

Pushing open the storehouse door, Mio experiences another vision through Yae's eyes - finding Itsuki hanged. A group of villagers appear behind her, unfazed.

The Ritual is beginning!

Spirit Alert: Imprisoned Boy

Personal best: 303pts

Itsuki stays visible for a moment, allowing you to get a good final picture.

Type-Zero Film lies in the corner of the entrance area. Inside Itsuki's cell are Bound Diary 4 and Crystal Ore, with Bound Diary 3 and 5 on the little bookshelf. The map on the wall can't be taken, but can be photographed to produce the All God's Village Map.

Itsuki's window has rusted shut.

All God's Village, Osaka House, Front
Bound Spirit Alert: Window Woman (Sense only)

1000pts

From just outside the Osaka house, look through the trees to the back of Itsuki's storeroom. The filament-free Window Woman is situated just in front of his little window.

Osaka House, 1F Entrance

Something is glowing on the floor of the adjacent Kimono Room, so head there now.

Osaka House, 1F Kimono Room

It's only Type-14 Film, unfortunately. However, you may notice that the lid is back on the old kimono box. Itsuki's map shows that the crest is inside.

Hostile Spirit Alert: Woman in Box (As if you didn't know. I mean, it's not rocket surgery)

With more HP than before, you'll find this battle goes on longer than it did way back in chapter one, even with your more powerful camera equipment. Her increased speed means you will need to be quicker on the shutter to catch her vulnerable moments, but she also chooses her charge attack more often to make things easier. Go and stand by the lantern and you won't even need to adjust your aim for the duration.

She drops the Osaka Crest, meaning this house is complete. If you want it to be. If you want to explore a little, save now, zoom the lens out, and equip some fast film.

Optional - Running Children

Osaka House, 1F Sunken Fireplace Room
Spirit Alert: Running Child x3

Personal best: 879pts for the girl, 1328pts for the boys

Three spirits appear simultaneously, and run off to all corners of the house. This may take a few attempts. As soon as you enter from the Kimono Room, dash left to place yourself in the southeast corner and aim towards the fireplace. After a split second, the children appear.

The girl heads towards the staircase, meaning she should run right through the viewfinder just a moment after you hear their laughter.

One boy heads to the Big Tatami Room, while the other to the corridor leading to the back of the house. This gives a short opportunity to capture them both in the same shot, provided you're zoomed out with maximum range. Type-90 film gives you just enough time to take this shot after reloading from the girl.

Now to find them.

Osaka House, 2F Guest Room
Spirit Alert: Hiding Child

Personal best: 1319pts

As soon as you enter the upstairs rooms, run to Mio's left (screen right) to trigger the filament. The girl is to be found behind the kimono next to the study. Take her photo before she turns and spots you.

She leaves behind a Garnet for the radio. The second child ran straight through the Big Tatami Room and into the family altar area with the secret passage you used before.

Osaka House, 1F Deluxe Tatami Room
Spirit Alert: Hiding Child

Personal best: 1539pts

There aren't many places to hide in here, so just look behind the screen to the left of the entrance.

The taunts continue, as there is one more child to find here.

Osaka House, 1F Back Room
Spirit Alert: Hiding Child

Personal best: 1319pts

The little alcove visible on the map is the obvious hiding place, but this kid is very alert and will turn to see you much faster than the others.

Spirit Alert: Lattice arm

Personal best: 2799pts

Notice anything else? Look out into the garden to see these arms reaching out from the Big Tatami Room. They don't affect the filament, and will stay for a long time until you spot them.

The child leaves behind Argonite (Small), and an otherwise empty house - which means it's hostile. Move.

Osaka House, 1F Sunken Fireplace Room

Save if you have the time. If not, prepare yourself.

Hostile Spirit Alert: Girl Playing Tag, Boy Playing Tag x2

Be afraid. The children are, collectively, probably the toughest opponent you've faced to date. Be sure to keep your health up at all costs.

Individually, each child is quite similar to Chitose. They appear in the middle distance, taunting, and then either leave or go for a rush attack. The rush is the key to Fatal Frames, and as with Chitose you will have to aim down and hold your nerve if you choose this path.

The problem is, there are three of them. Three targets to watch, any of which may be bluffing or about to charge. The taunts continue throughout, with a little wave and a more clear "over here!" signalling a Zero chance.

Stay in the centre of the room, keeping your eyes open in non-camera mode and watching for any attacks. Prepare to Evade at any time. This battle will take some time, as your attacks will no doubt be spread over all three targets. If you stay alert, however, you can get by with minimal damage to Mio.

Your reward for all this is the Save Function, granting a major boost to spirit charge and allowing you to use special lenses much more often.

Kiryu House

The next house on the list is Kiryu. Enter through the main doors, and prepare to blitz through here. Hostile spirits will be out from the off, with the Fallen Woman and the Kiryus themselves. Fallen Woman is particularly troublesome, as she often appears just as you pull up the viewfinder.

Kiryu House, 1F Sealed Room
Bound Spirit Alert: Yoshitatsu Kiryu

1000pts

Yoshitatsu may be found among the pile of burnt doll parts on his old desk.

Kiryu House, 1F Sealed Room
Bound Spirit Alert: Photo Woman

1000pts

Head to the northwest corner of the room and look up into the rafters to see a small collection of photos staring back down at you. Photo Woman is among these.

Kiryu House, 1F Storeroom with Window
Bound Spirit Alert: Ugly Caretaker

1000pts

Another bound spirit, this time in the small storeroom in which you found a doll part earlier. Look out of the window and search for the familiar blue glow.

With the first floor clean, head up to the second, near the bridge to Tachibana. Any route is fine.

Kiryu House, 2F Sliding Screen Room

A Kiryu doll stands motionless in the corner of the room. She may or may not be hostile. Take her picture to reveal Girl goes into Wall (1000pts), as a clue to where to go next. But first...

Bound Spirit Alert: Bloody eyes

1000pts

From the door to the Tachibana bridge, look through the torn screen lattice towards the desk in the corner of the room. The filament should glow here.

Now, follow Azami's advice and open the secret door next to the hanging kimono.

Kiryu House, 2F Hidden Room

In the corner of this little room kneels another Kiryu, with the Kiryu Crest before her.

Heading back, Mio finds that the rotating door is stuck fast. She bangs on it, but there is no one on the other side to hear her. With a series of sickening crunches, the doll gains life and lurches to her feet.

The door is open, so quickly head through it.

Kiryu House, 2F Sliding Screen Room
Hostile Spirit Alert: Twin's Spirit, Twin's Doll

The room isn't quite ideal, with its obscuring lattices and irritating central pillar, but you've found these two before in a corridor. Stay calm, and go for safe attrition if need be.

This house is now finished, so leave via the nearby exit.

Kurosawa is off-limits for now, so it is time to make your way to the other end of the village - the Cemetery near Misono Hill - for the final crest. There is some Type-14 Film on the summit if you want it.

All God's Village, All God's Cemetery

Herbal Medicine lies near the bridge to Misono Hill, and in its vicinity is a strong effect on the filament. However, you can't do anything from here and must enter the cemetery proper in order to progress.

On rounding the corner, note the cloudy glow coming from a distant shrine. That is home to the final crest. Take its photo to find Gravestone, pointing out the Tsuchihara grave. Take of picture of that to develop into Grave Shadow.

Hostile Spirit Alert: Broken Neck Woman

She should pose no threat to you by now. More resilient, but that just means it will take longer. Run forwards to trigger her attack, then skip away and wait for the fatal frame. Double and triple fatals should flow off your film without issue.

Defeating her breaks the seal on the shrine, revealing the Tsuchihara Crest therein. Now, Mayu needs you.

All God's Village, The Old Tree

Insert the crests to create a new pinwheel puzzle, with six turns to match up the petals.

Hint: Six turns means the central wheel will end up half a rotation from its initial position.

Solution: Rotate the top left wheel once, and the bottom right three times, and the top right twice.

As the mechanism unlocks, air begins to flow through the small cave, spinning the little pinwheels into a frenzy. From underground, a current of wind rushes on as the Kureha Shrine door opens.

Check on Mayu to finish the chapter.

Mayu!

She wakes, still delirious and not focusing on the world around her.

No matter... forgive... you... No matter what happens, I'll forgive you...

Mayu slowly comes to her senses under her sister's guidance.

Stand up. We're almost home...
